Strawberry Lemonade and the Botanic Gardens

It's a beautiful sunny Saturday in Redondo Beach and we've got to figure out a way to get outside and enjoy it.  Theresa's really been feeling like lemonade lately and that sounded great to me. Let's check our little lemon tree.

Only one full size lemon ready for squeezing, but it definitely looks like we'll be getting quite a few later this summer. Theresa headed out to the farmer's market though and picked up a few more lemons for lemonade.

I squeezed the lemons and we used the delicious Chick-Fil-A lemonade recipe for the base.

Chick-Fil-A lemonade
1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
4 cups cold water
7/8th cups of white sugar

It also happens to be strawberry season here, so Theresa also bought a few baskets of fresh strawberries. While I'll rarely order a soda at a restaurant, sometimes I will splurge and get a strawberry lemonade, so it's definitely one of my favorites.

Prepare to be turned into deliciousness.

Yum!

We ended up with regular lemonade plus some really thick strawberry lemonade to mix it with.

But where should we go to enjoy our tasty beverage?  Why not the South Coast Botanic Garden? It's been a month or more since we were here last and the weather is perfect today.

The last time we were here, the Rose Garden was still growing. Today, they're all in bloom and you can tell you're getting close to the rose garden because the smell hits you before you even see it.

More than once Theresa told me she wished you could record smells.

After enjoying the roses, we found a nice patch of grass.

It was a great way to spend the afternoon, enjoying our strawberry lemonade and reading a book in the sunshine.
