Manoa Falls Hike and more Malasadas - Day 8 and 9

Finally getting back around to the Hawaii trip. It's been an eventful couple of months.

One of the things we're enjoying on this trip have been all the hikes. This morning we're getting out and hiking up to Manoa Falls. It's just a short 1.6 mile round trip and there's the possibility of a nice waterfall once you reach the end.

It does look like a scene right out of Jurassic Park, doesn't it.

These trees are gnarly.

The root system is crazy.

One of the biggest comments we'd read about this trail was that it could get muddy and slippery. The bottom of the trail wasn't too bad.

But towards the top, it started to get treacherous. Theresa was thankful for the hiking poles, and Ian was happy to have a hand to hold on to.

Here's where it started to get really slippery. Wet rocks without any soil.

Finally we arrived at Manoa Falls. Someone turned the water off. Mostly just a wetness down the side of the rocks. Not coming down as hard as it was in the movie Jurassic World.

Family picture!

It going up was slippery, going down was even more so.

A tree that was cleared off the path. And it's wider than Ian is tall!

Making it close to the end, we even had a little rain. Unfortunate for the hikers we saw going up.

Ian loved the hike.

Afterwards, in our continuing quest to find the best malasadas on the island, our car took a detour to Kamehameha Bakery.

This place gets really busy, and their popular poi malasadas often sell out. Today though we made it in time and had plenty of things to choose from. There's so many tasty things to choose from here. We went home with two large boxes of pastries for the house.

The majority of them being the very popular poi glazed malasadas (the purple ones) and the strawberry donuts.

A small smorgasbord of the above, plus a butter roll, and something like a pecan sandie but with walnuts I think. All delicious.

Alli was a fan.

What a beautiful day. Perfect for hanging out in the pool.

The kids were ready. But first, sunblock.

Off they go in their swim diapers.

The pool was a big hit with everyone.

And the kids just loved hanging out with their cousins.

Dinner tonight. Mmm. Ribs. They've been cooking for hours and then smoked on the grill. Delicious.

Loving the views from the house.

Looking from the street back towards the house.

You find someone's coffee cup Alli?

Our last day at the house. We'd spend it enjoying the sunshine from the deck and swimming in the pool.

And at the end of the day there was even a rainbow.

Great last day at the house.
