Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Let's celebrate!

We're fortunate to have my niece Abby visiting this weekend from Michigan. And whenever we've got visitors out of town, the meals get a lot more exciting. She's a big fan of the 85C bakery, so we actually had it both mornings she was here.

Everyone is a fan.

Especially the chocolate bread.

In preparation for tomorrow, I wanted to stop by Krispy Kreme to pick up some green donuts. We were fortunate that the "Hot Donuts Now" sign was lit up, and wouldn't you know it, they're making the green ones right now!

All smiles.

I love how you get a free hot donut right off the line.

Thanks!

Definitely looking forward to having these tomorrow morning.

Since Abby is graduating soon, we headed to the beach to get some senior photos.

Time passes so quickly. When did she grow up so much.

The next morning, after opening our leprechaun trap and finding something inside, we settled in for breakfast. The kids both really really wanted Lucky Charms, and we had to have some green donuts to go with it.

The outside is a little forrest green. Inside is a bright vibrant green.

It's such a beautiful day we had to spend some time at the park. Seriously, it's 79 degrees and sunny. Can't ask for much more.

With a little help from me, Ian has a new favorite way to enjoy the swings. Try not to get sick just watching it. He loved it and wanted to do it again and again.

One final treat for today, Theresa ran out to McDonalds (and a second McDonalds when the first was sold out) and got us the limited time only Shamrock Shakes!

Ian - They don't taste like shamrocks. Mine tastes like mint.

Hope you had a great St. Patrick's Day!

  1. Such wonderful "Mad" hats!! Chocolate bread and piping, fresh doughnuts......yuuuuuuuuuuuummy!!!!! They do grow fast...Congrats to Abby, the graduating senior...she wore a beautiful, deep purple/blue outfit on the beach..looks good on her! I hadn't seen the swing "trick" in a very long time...when Ian didn't respond immediately after the untwisting, I thought he got "sick" from all that twirling...guess he was just trying to reorient himself initially. The Shamrock shakes look refreshing...perfect for a warm sunny day...any taste comparison to the Disneyland mint julep? (haven't tried either one actually) Thanks for sharing the St. Patrick's Day celebration! EOM

    1. It was a really fun day. I wish I had a bigger yard to put a bigger swing in, for adults too. I feel like the ones in the park aren't really made for older people, but I still like to swing!
It's been a while since I've had a Mint Julep from DL. Shamrock shakes are much better.
