It was just yesterday that we had gone on a 10.5 mile hike around Niagara Falls, but with rain in the forecast for the next couple days, we thought it would be a good idea to get out again today. Our ultimate destination will be the falls, but we're going to hike over to it. The kids are always up for getting some miles in.
It was amazing seeing all three waterfalls of Niagara Falls, but there's a little bit more to Niagara Falls State Park that we want to explore. There's walking paths all around here and we've got plenty of walking miles that we're trying to get in this year. Let's go explore!
When Theresa and I were trying to figure out all the different places to go in the RV this year, there was one place I definitely wanted to go. Theresa and I have been here years ago, all the way back in 2002 between college semesters. It's one of the first things I have posted on the blog. Back then, we only went on the Canadian side. This year, due to Covid, there's so many hoops to jump through if you want to go over to the Canadian side, needing a Covid test within 72 hours and proof of vaccination for all eligible persons. Not wanting to spend hundreds on the tests for just a few hours on the Canadian side, we're going to be spending all our time on the side of the American Falls. Let's go check it out!
After two separate nights at Harvest Host Apple Orchards, we're back to a place where we'll be spending a few days! We're at Four Mile Creek State Park in New York!
We're continuing our trip west across New York and in order to keep our travel days short, Theresa has booked us back-to-back with another Harvest Host at another apple orchard! Tonight we're going to be parking the RV at Abbott Farms!
The Abbotts have been here, at this location, since 1869! Windsor Abbott and his wife Nancy (both in their 80s) are fourth generation farmers on this land! Their son Warren Abbott is the fifth generation and runs the day to day of the farm now.
Happy Halloween! This year Halloween falls on Sunday and Sundays around here are pizza day! When Ian heard that, he told me he wanted to make a candy pizza for Halloween! I don't know how good that will be, but he's excited for it, so let's go for it!
It's time to move again! We've explored the North East and now it's time to start heading West. Tonight we'll be utilizing our Harvest Host membership, which partners with hundreds of farms around the US to let RVers spend the night. Tonight we get to park the RV and sleep at Bowman Orchards!
