Summer Coaster Tour - Day 07 - Six Flags Great Adventure New Jersey - 2026/05/27

It's our 7th day of our big summer roller coaster tour and we're in New Jersey! Today we're going to Six Flags Great Adventure!

Because the park doesn't open until 10:30am today, we've got time to go eat a hotel breakfast. Alli is always up for breakfast, while Ian always prefers to sleep in.

Did we have some good options?
We did! I love making fresh waffles! And they have a special 250th America Berry Waffle, along with whipped cream and patriotic sprinkles!

And I love this kind of sausage compared to the regular sausage links and patties.

Since Theresa is going to be working today from the hotel room, the kids and I are taking an Uber to get to the park. It was an easy drive to the park, though instead of getting dropped off at the regular drop-off zone, our driver hopped into the line to go through the paid booth. Good thing I have my season pass with free parking!

The line to get in around 10:10am. Looks like a lot of schools are here today. The front entrance gates opened shortly after that and we were let into the park.

At 10:20am we were at the end of their main street being held by security until 10:30am.

Ready for a fun day!

Right at 10:30am, security gave the go ahead and everyone took off running to their preferred ride. Our first ride can only be one thing. It was being built the last time we were here so it's a brand new roller coaster for us. The Flash - Vertical Velocity! Let's run!

Boo... Still closed.

What's close? Wonder Woman, which is a giant pendulum swinger. and we love it!
We were the very first in line and we had a blast!

For our next ride, we hopped over to the Jersey Devil which is lots of fun.

There's another little coaster credit we tried to earn here, on a little bitty coaster called Little Devil, but were told that only children were allowed on today. Aww.

Nitro is a whole lot of fun and has a similar ride style as Goliath and Fury 325.

Love it!

The kids have really fond memories of Skull Mountain, but it seems like they've changed version that we really loved. When we first rode it, you see the outside being an Indiana Jones'esque mountain with Kingdom of the Crystal Skull vibes. Same with the load zone of the coaster. But when you go inside the mountain, suddenly you get a disco party with flashing lights, thumping music, and a skull beside the track at the end. Wild!

But the last few times we've gone, it's been completely dark inside. No music. No lights. Just an in-the-dark coaster experience. Meh. If you watched the videos, which would you prefer?

Well how's The Flash looking? It's a long line, but we have the Fast Lane pass so we can go right to the front. When we got to the front though, the rain that has been threatening today finally started. Instead of waiting around, we decided this would be a good time for lunch.

Ian has been looking forward to the quesadillas he had last time, but sadly that food stand is closed. Instead, we all joined Alli at the pasta place and me and Ian split a meatball sub.

Since it's raining, we hopped over the The Dark Knight coaster, which is Batman themed, but it's just an indoor mouse coaster. It's a little rough.

Let's go across to the other side of the park! Hi Sylvester and Bugs!

El Toro gets a lot of praise and it is aggressive! Fast and sharp turns and whipping you around.
They've got lockers here and they make sure you're not bringing any phones on the ride.
The lines didn't look terrible at the loading station and we only had 3 cycles until we could ride. They've only got 1 train running today so it does take a while to load, ride, unload, and get the next group of people on. It was almost time for us, when everything came to a stop. After the unload, a worker grabbed some gloves, bleach, and paper towels. Cleaning took a while and then they ran the coaster through again. It came back and then more cleaning happened. It ran again, but when it got back there were park EMTs there. Hmm, maybe it wasn't just puke. In the end, it took over 30 minutes to get the train running again. We should have left and come back later.

Ian and I split a meal earlier, so we've still got a meal credit. We shared nachos before going to our next ride.

We've had a lot of problems going on Superman in past visits here. But today we've got Fast Lane so all that should change!

Or not...

There doesn't seem to be anyone regulating the station up top. The Fast Lane split is at the bottom of the stairs so even with the pass, it still took 45 minutes until we could finally ride.

Photos of us on the ride from the parking lot? Theresa is here!

Hi Theresa! We grabbed a couple Icees.

Then it was back over to Flash Vertical Velocity.

For this coaster, all your loose items have to go into a locker. I couldn't text Theresa when we were about to board.

That's not us.

It was a fun coaster. Especially the part where you're hanging upside down for a long time. It does suffer from only having 1 train on a single track. Loading and unloading are slow because of it and the line just crawls.

Walking around the park afterwards we saw Wile E. Coyote and Porky Pig. Love that they have characters out and about.

Now that Theresa is here, she can use her meal credit! How about something unique?

Shepherds Pie and brussel sprouts!
That looks so much like a frozen meal with parsley on top.

The girls thought it was just okay.

Six Flags Great Adventure is not only a roller coaster park, but also a safari park!
The last time we were here, the only option was to board the safari trucks at the station outside the parks. The very slow moving line took 2 hours, literally, to board a truck.
Today though, there is a boarding location inside the park, and it's even got a short line! That's something that's totally Theresa's speed.

Our guide for the next 40 minutes while we drive around the safari park and look at animals.

Some very cute deer.

Who is that trying to cross the road?

A snapping turtle that we drove around.

Elephants!

Water buffalo.

And there's one appropriately in water. It's a warm one and it's cooling off.

Rhino.

Giraffe.

This guy coming close to the safari van. We were reminded that New Jersey is a no-touch state and you can be fined if you reach out and touch a wild animal.

We can't touch them, but they can touch us!
Alli! Look like lettuce!
Bring us toys (Geoffrey the giraffe from Toys R Us)!

Welcome to the grasslands.

Lions.

Bears. There's got to be tigers around here somewhere.

Someone has been swimming.

Those bears have it made! Just take a nice bath then reach over and grab a snack (a nearby duck).

Kangaroos just laying beside the road, lounging.

There's those tigers!

One more coaster before we go. Medusa is a fun one.

And T got a good view of us in the back row. Inverted!

We all sat down to dinner at 5:30pm, enjoying gyros, meatball subs, and salads.
Checking the app, there's a few coasters we still haven't done like Batman and Joker, but they aren't running. Neither is Flash so we decided to call it an early night. We've been going hard and we could use a few hours in the hotel room to relax before we come back and do it all again tomorrow.
