Happy Father's Day to me! 2026/06/21

Happy Father's Day to me! How lucky am I? I have two amazing kids who are so sweet and thoughtful and fun to be around. We had a really good Fathers Day.

I found some very marbled looking filets at Sam's Club earlier in the week, and they're on sale!

I salt and peppered the steaks earlier in the day and let them rest in the fridge for a few hours. Theresa and Alli don't like any fatty pieces, so I trimmed everything up very well to give them the perfect little morsels of steak.

And when we've got delicious steaks to cook, I'm going to get the smoker out. These will cook up nicely.

Theresa found the first corn of the season at the grocery store earlier this week. Add in a warm bagette and we've got a great meal. And those fatty pieces of steak won't go to waste at all. I love them!

It was a very yummy lunch on a lazy Sunday. Afterwards I went outside to relax in the hammock and read a book.

Ian and Alli have been hard at work closed up in their room all day yesterday and today. I'm excited to see what creative things they're going to make for me. It's Pokemon themed!

They made me a Shiny Ponyta, my Pokemon Go Best Buddy! Quick aside, my favorite Disney character is Hades from the movie Hercules. I've got a Hades hat, Pop Socket on my phone, and decal on my water tumbler. Because a shiny Ponyta has blue flames coming from him, I've named him Hades' Horse in my game.

They also made me a Pokemon tic-tac-toe game with Poke-balls for the Xs and Os. A big baseball (we've been throwing the ball around at night a lot lately), an Oddish basil pot, and a treasure box filled with Pokecoins.

They made 40 of these paper Pokecoins with Pikachu drawn on each one and a quarter taped to the back.

They've also decorated the RV with Pokemon from the game. Like Cherubi (made from balloons).

And Hoppip. Love the crinkly leaves at the top.

My giant baseball.

What about a tasty dessert? You know I love chocolate chip cookies. Something to snack on while I read a book outside in the hammock.

Since it's Sunday, it's pizza day! Jacob picked up Dominos pizza so I wouldn't have to cook. Thanks!

And what about dessert afterwards? Jacob mentioned that McDonald's is bringing back their old recipe apple pies that are fried instead of baked! Yum! Let's all head there!

And aren't we lucky! Because of how many we ordered, they need to cook up a fresh batch! We've happily wait 10 minutes if they're piping hot! Once they came out of the fryer, they were immediately boxed up and given to us. They're not holding them to cook down at all.

Theresa burned her lip. Jacob burned his palate. I burned my tongue. Was it worth it?
Absolutely!

And can you believe the fried apple pies are 10 calories LESS than the baked ones? Weird!

Doing my fatherly duties and making sure no food goes to waste.
What an awesome Father's Day. I feel very loved.
