Summer Coaster Tour - Day 10 - Kings Dominion - 2026/05/30

It's our final day of coasters on our big roller coaster tour. We're at Kings Dominion one last time before we start the long drive home to Florida.

Those who wanted to enjoyed a tasty breakfast. Alli and I love seeing make-your-own waffles on the menu, along with whipped cream.

Kings Dominion doesn't open until 11am, yes even though it's Saturday at the end of May. We were in a line of cars waiting for the parking booths to open at 10:30am.

After getting parked, we hopped in the queue for the entrance. At 10:50am the park played the Star Spangled Banner.

10:58am and we're inside the park! What does Alli see?

Ah, we have to get a drink before we walk to the back of the park.

Ready for another fun day of hopping around to our favorites from yesterday.

Apple Zapple was one of the kids' favorites, but it's one of the few coasters that doesn't have a FastLane. If the line gets long, you just have to wait. That'll be the first one we hit while the lines are short.

First in line!

First ride of the day!

And since there was no one in line yet, they let us stay on and go for another round! We rotated seats to give everyone a chance in the front row.

Still not busy? Might as well go one more time!

We twisted Jacob's arm and took him on the front row of Twisted Timbers.

And with all those empty seats, they let us move to the back into an empty row and ride again! We seem to be missing Jacob though. It is a little hard on the thighs.

I've been carrying some special Icee candies I found through this whole trip, hoping to find a good time to try them together. We grabbed the appropriate Icee flavors and tried it out, test taste results to come later.

And I found a couple extra Icee treats from a Lidl while we were on this trip. Another taste test coming soon!

Lunchtime! Everyone grabbed whatever they were feeling like.

Then we were off for another few rides on Pantherian. This is probably my favorite ride here at this park. It's fast and powerful. I like the aggressiveness without it being painful.

Rapterra was a lot of fun too, especially that launch at the beginning.

Jacob and I took the back row.

Then the kids followed right after.

Snaking our way through Reptilian and the trackless coaster.

Taking a break and eating some of that tasty fudge from Kilwins last night.

Back to the front of the park to ride on Dominator.

Jacob opted to skip this round on Tumbili.

The singing mushroom quartet and their piano playing frog are a staple here at Kings Dominion. They are even listed on the LogRide app as a Show. We listened to them singing a couple songs.

Taking another bumpy ride on the Grizzly.

Topping off our Icees.

There's another coaster that we can add to our coaster list. The Great Pumpkin Coaster!

Into Peanuts Land and saying hello to Charlie Brown.

And meeting Franklin.

Then off to ride The Great Pumpkin Coaster! Not just one lap around, but two! Wooo!
Looking at YouTube videos to add to this post, I see that the giant pumpkin that you go through was added in 2026. And they even take your picture on this ride! Gotta get memories for some of these kids' first coaster ride.

At least they did as we were boarding. As we were leaving, around 4:20pm, they had closed up the photo booth and were turning off the screens.

I noted the time though and was able to get them added to my account back at the front of the park.

It's dinnertime! We all decided to grab whatever we wanted. Detroit style pizza for Ian. A BBQ place for the rest of us, though Alli was only wanting a salad.
The only wrinkle we ran into was for Alli's meal. Instead of the meat, side, cornbread meal, she wanted the 3 side dishes meal equivalent. When she asked for "salad, salad, salad" as her sides, they loaded her up, and she was pretty happy! Until we got to the checkout and the person didn't know how to ring up the 3 sides meal, and instead tried to charge us for 3 separate salads. She wouldn't get a manager and instead took the salads and trashed them when I wouldn't pay full price for them. Back through the line again to get a regular meal with meat, cornbread, and just a single side salad. Ridiculous. Whatever.

At the front of the park, we made use of the photographers here to get a few more pictures of the group.

Thanks Kings Dominion! It's been fun!

It's 5:15pm and we're already leaving the park?

Yep! Because we've got some miles to cover before we are done with our day. We're aiming to be back in Florida tomorrow evening and tonight we're going to be doing at least 5 hours in the car.

Theresa took the first leg of the drive.

Hello North Carolina!

Stopping by McDonalds for a restroom break, and why not grab a treat at the same time.

Passing South of the Border, a tourist attraction just south of the North Carolina and South Carolina state line.

And finally made it to our hotel around 10:30pm.

We've done a lot of driving and hit a lot of stops on this trip. Tomorrow we'll wrap things up.

  1. What a long day of fun twists and turns and then followed by the long drive. But what a day at Kings Dominion...so many repeat rides on Pantherian and Apple Zapple! Wow, what an incident with the 3 salad sides...not a very customer-friendly cashier :-( The Singing Mushrooms is a cute show. So strange the park didn't open until 11 am, especially on a Saturday and being the week of Memorial Day. What a coaster trip for the family and Jacob!!...certainly got a chance to ride so many different coasters at so many different parks. Should do a ranking of the parks and another ranking of the top five rides based on all the rides from this trip...that would be interesting to see! EOM
