2019 Lunar Eclipse

It's time for another Eclipse! We're kind of on a space kick right now with our visit to the Observatory yesterday.
The Solar Eclipse back in 2017 was absolutely amazing. I was really glad we made such an effort to go see it.
This year, there is a complete Lunar Eclipse and we can see it right from our porch!
Right before the kids went to bed, we all marveled at how the moon was getting covered up. Alli even did a great job when I quizzed her on what makes the moon shine. Alli - The sun! Nice one!

After the kids went to bed, I went back and grabbed Ian when it was getting closer to the total eclipse.

Really cool!

Here's the best shot I was able to get tonight.

  1. Very nice final photo! How long has Ian been interested in the planetary universe? Does his interest extend to other sciences? There are so many different scientific areas to explore and to pique his inquisitive mind (and Alli's). It's a "great, big beautiful world (tomorrow)" that awaits their young minds! Just keep nurturing their curiosity like you and T have been doing, and something wonderful will blossom :-)

    1. That's a good question. It might have been around the time of the solar eclipse that he really started getting into it. Right now it's space, but we're getting into all sorts of quick experiments you can do at home. Mentos and coke, making pennies shiny, making pennies rust, homemade lava lamp (alka seltzer and oil), and more.
I definitely want to get them into science early.
