Kids Soda Creations

And we're back after a short break. More on that in future posts I'm sure.

Ian and Alli were super excited to do a brand new soda taste test, but this time, they're the chefs! They're both wanting to make up their own recipes. They've been practicing already this week with water or milk, but I brought out an ingredient to really step up their soda game. Fizzy water!

Pizza at Home - Apple Gorgonzola Pizza

It's Sunday so it's pizza day!
Today we've got something a little different. One of the sites that I've been getting a lot of my recipes from is sallysbakingaddiction.com. I remember when I was making the recipe for BBQ Chicken pizza from there, that Sally mentioned it was her second favorite pizza. Her favorite is the pizza we're making tonight.
It's a Caramelized Apple Gorgonzola Pizza! We're going to give it a shot tonight!

Mountain Dew Doritos - Imported from Australia

We've got something special today! We love Mountain Dew! And now Doritos has a new Limited Edition flavor that tastes like Mountain Dew? We've got to try it!

And just like our usual taste tests around here, we're going to have it with Mountain Dew soda.

Rotisserie Chicken Pringles

Today we get to try out a new Pringles flavor! Honestly when I saw it on the shelf, I mistook it for something we've already tried before. We tried Roasted Turkey Pringles earlier this year and I thought these were those. But my brother knew better and had a few things shipped to me in a package, these included!

And since we're trying Rotisserie Chicken Pringles, we've got to have a Rotisserie Chicken to go along with it. Thank you Sam's Club for having a big chicken for just $5.

Taste testing Dr Pepper Cotton Candy

This week we've got an interesting new offering. If you ask me what my favorite soft drink is, that's easy, Dr. Pepper.
I'm a Pepper. Wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too?
The kids certainly would. Their favorite soft drink (of the few they've tried) is Dr Pepper also! So when I suggested a few different things we could do for our taste test, as soon as they heard Dr Pepper, they were in! But Dr Pepper Cotton Candy? That's interesting.

This Cotton Candy is brought to you Taste of Nature, Inc. They're located in Santa Monica CA and they've got a few more interesting products at CandyASAP.com.

Starburst Fruit by the Foot

Starburst, you keep coming out with new things! This time, they've teamed up with Fruit by the Foot to create a Starburst flavored fruit snack!
First there was the Starburst Yogurt. Then came the Starburst Jello. And then I found Starburst Gum when I was checking out from the supermarket.
Well the kids have been excited for this one. Let's check it out!

I was happy to see that there's all 4 flavors represented. Not like the Gelatin with only 3 of the 4 flavors.

Pizza at Home - Frozen Pizza

It's Sunday which means it's time for pizza! But sometimes you just get a little busy and don't exactly have time to make homemade pizza. In those cases, that freezer staple, frozen pizza is always there for you.

The answer was a resounding yes!

Saturday Morning Cereals - A Cinnamon Toast Crunch taste test comparison

There's a lot of different kinds of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal. We've enjoyed these for the last few weeks, tasting each one individually against what it represents.
For the Cinnamon Toast Crunch, I baked my on sandwich loaf bread and then toasted it with cinnamon and sugar. Delicious.
For French Toast Crunch, I baked a Brioche loaf and then made French Toast with it.
For the Chocolate Toast Crunch, I made a Chocolate bun recipe but turned it into a loaf of chocolate bread, then toasted it. Afterwards they were dusted with cinnamon sugar.
Finally for the Churros cereal, I made mini churros and deep fried them, coating them with cinnamon and sugar when they were finished.

After trying them all separate, it's time to try all of them at the same time and pick a favorite!

Disney Treats at Home - Corn Dogs and Churros

Who's hungry? It's time for another round of Disney Treats at Home!
We started with Mint Juleps and Mickey Beignets. Next came Marshmallow Wands, Caramel Apples, and Chocolate Apples. To celebrate summer, we made our own Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars and Mickey Ice Cream Sandwiches. To celebrate my birthday we recreated the Napa Rose at home with their Signature Pizzetta, Truffled Mac & Cheese, Filet Mignon, and bread basket. And last time we made Smoked Turkey Legs and Chili Lime Buttered Corn on the Cob.

Today we're going to attempt another Disney staple. We're making the ever famous Disneyland Corn Dog from the Little Red Wagon at the end of Main Street along with a couple other treats from the Corn Dog Castle. And for dessert, a Disney Churro. I think this is going to be a tasty meal!

A massive 15 Goldfish cracker taste test comparison!

There's times when we get the urge to TRY ALL THE THINGS! We've tried 12 Lays Chips with our Flavors of America taste test, 17 M&Ms at one time, 19 kinds of Pringles in one sitting, 28 Kit Kat Flavors, and a whopping 53 different Reese's flavors at once.
Today it's not quite to those levels, but I did buy every single flavor of Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Crackers that I could find. We've got 15 different varieties today!
I love the fishes cause they're so delicious! Gone Goldfishin'!

Happy Labor Day!

It's Labor Day! A day we celebrate all the labor achievements of the American worker and take the day off work. Our original plan for the day was to hang out in the hammocks outside, turn on the sprinklers and have the kids run through them, and just in the heat outside.
But there's fires that broke out over the weekend and the skies are hazy and smell of smoke.

There's an ash layer that's forming over everything outside, so instead of hanging out outside today, we're staying inside. The kid's trampoline early in the day.

Pizza at Home - Potato, Egg, Bacon, and Cheese Pizza

It's Sunday so it's Pizza Day again! I love Pizza Day, but truthfully I'm starting to have a hard time coming up with new ideas. This one is inspired by a delicious place here in Los Angeles called Pizzeria Mozza. They have some unique offerings, and one really tasty one that Theresa and I loved was their Egg & Bacon pizza. It has Yukon Gold potatoes and onions on it too. That's like a breakfast pizza! Seeing as how I've made dessert pizza, and all those other pizzas, it's totally appropriate that I'm making a breakfast pizza too!

Taste testing Cinnamon Toast Crunch Ice Cream

Phew, it's hot in Southern California. I could use some ice cream to cool down.
Good thing I picked up something new that we can all taste together! Cinnamon Toast Crunch now makes an ice cream!

We'll be tasting the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal along with the new Cinnamon Toast Crunch ice cream.

Saturday Morning Cereals - French Toast Crunch cereal

Happy Saturday! Time for the last cereal in our four part look at the different versions of Cinnamon Toast Crunch!
This time it's French Toast Crunch!

Originally introduced in the mid 1990s, they were discontinued in 2006. But the demand was high and in 2014, they were brought back!

Hawaiian Shaved Coffee and Shaved Snow

It wasn't long ago that we made Hawaiian Shaved Ice at home. While we were doing that, Ian was getting creative, wanting to make different things using the Shaved Ice Maker. He's got something special in store for Grandpa. Shaved Coffee!

Making Lucilles BBQ at Home!

Tonight the Flowers' house is becoming a BBQ joint. One of the tastiest we have in the South Bay is Lucille's Smokehouse Bar-B-Que. There's quite a few tasty offerings, but the best has to be the baby back ribs. Let's get cooking!

Starburst Gum

Starburst is coming out with a bunch of brand new things! So far this year we've tried Starburst Yogurt and Starburst Gelatin. And today we get to try another Starburst item. It's Starburst Gum!

And today we're going to compare them to the original Starburst. Can the flavors hold up? We will see!

Toasted Marshmallow Day - August 30th

Today is National Toasted Marshmallow Day! Last year we were in Arizona hanging out with friends and visiting a resort. They had fire pits there and even marshmallows to toast!
