Disneyland 2016 Dapper Day weekend - Saturday

It's Dapper Day weekend at the Disneyland Resort, and Theresa, the kids, and I are staying on property at the Grand Californian all weekend. One of the benefits of staying at a Disney hotel is the perk of an extra hour inside the park before it officially opens to the public. Today the park opens at 8am, which means we'll be able to get in at 7am!
That is, if we can wake up... Being in a new place always messes with the kids' sleep schedules, so we had a little bit of a rough first night. Eventually everyone rolled out of bed at 8:30am, so we completely missed that Early Magic Hour.

Disneyland 2016 Dapper Day weekend - Friday

It's Dapper Day weekend at the Disneyland Resort! One of the fantastic benefits to Dapper Day are the great hotel discounts. Rooms at Disney's Grand Californian Resort that usually run $450-550 can be had for only $254 per night! That's enough incentive for Theresa and I, which means we'll be here all weekend!
After dropping off our luggage, it was off to Downtown Disney to find lunch.
Disney is promoting Captain America: Civil War by giving out these fans allowing you to show your support for your favorite character. Sides have been chosen! It's a house divided.

Big Thunder Ranch BBQ plus a visit from Woody

What's the best restaurant on Disneyland property? My vote is Big Thunder Ranch BBQ. For just $30 you get an all-you-can-eat meal with lots of tasty sides, plus a bucket full of meat! Whenever we were getting together with friends at the park and having dinner together, Big Thunder Ranch BBQ was always on the top of our list.
So for Saturday at lunch, the entire family was really feeling like some tasty BBQ.

Lays Flavor Swap 2016

Since 2013, Lays has brought us many unique chip flavors in their Do Us A Flavor contest. In 2013, we were introduced to 3 different flavors, Sriracha, Cheesy Garlic Bread, and the delicious Chicken and Waffles. In 2014, Lays brought us Cheddar Bacon Mac & Cheese, Cappuccino, Mango Salsa and Wasabi Ginger. 2015 introduced Truffle Fries, New York Reuben, Greektown Gyro, and Biscuits and Gravy.
For 2016, instead of voting for our favorite new flavor, Lays is pitting 4 classic flavors against 4 brand new flavors. One stays. One goes.

The contest started on Feb 8th, but I had the hardest time finding all the flavors. Many stores had the Flavor Swap displays, but stuffed them with all regular flavors. Between a couple stores in Michigan, and 5 stores in California, I was only able to find five of the eight flavors. Luckily for me, my brother in Colorado was able to find the remaining flavors and during a March visit I was able to get them from him.
