Disney around the World - Day 6 Part 4 - Shanghai Disneyland 2018-10-19

Let's continue with part 4 of Day 6 while we visit Shanghai Disneyland and all the other Asian Disney parks.

We've seen a few shows, I think it's time for a ride again. Over to Woody's Roundup!

The theming here is great! There's a $50 Bzillion reward for One-Eyed Bart.

And we're always on the look-out for the Evil Dr. Porkchop. I like that the desk has a giant safety pin sheriff badge on the front, and a huge handcuff key.

That's a really big gold nugget!

Ian really wanted to ride with Ace.

Ian - I wanted another horse but there weren't any more available. Only Dottie was left.
He rode with Dottie the first time.

It was well themed, but very bumpy. Probably as bumpy at Mater's Junkyard Jamboree is getting back at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim.

It's a very simple ride, but you can theme it so many different ways. Mater's Junkyard Jamboree in California, Little Green Men Flying Saucers in Florida, and The Happy Ride with Baymax in Japan.

Treats you say? I like treats! I had read ahead of time that the Sweet Egg Tart is not to be missed.

And it was really good! Hot and eggy.

I had also read good things about some snacks from Merlin's Magic Recipe treats.

Specifically the Mickey Apple Coconut Cake. Doesn't it look adorable!

But there was no magic here for us today. They have sold out of the cakes. Instead we got a sausage roll, which was fine, but not that magical.

I love these kinds of areas, especially in a crazy theme park. A wide open space where you can slow down and relax a little bit.

We found an open picnic table, grabbed some treats, and had a seat for a little while.

You can't go wrong with pretzels and ice cream.

Speaking of ice cream, don't you hate it when you buy a Mickey bar and open the packaging to find that the chocolate is all cracked.

There's less chance of that happening here though because each ice cream bar has a protective plastic shell around it.

This is also a great place for the kids to run around and get out some energy. And they can play with all the other kids here too! You don't need to speak the language to enjoy playing with bubbles! And the little kid had just as much fun making them as the other kids did playing in them!

Let's go visit Alice in Wonderland and get lost in her maze!

How do you get to Wonderland? Must be through one of these doors.

What's that loud growling noise?

I don't want to meet whatever is on the other side of that door.

When it growls at us, we growl right back.

This isn't the cutesy Alice in Wonderland from classic Disney. This is the 2010 Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland where everything is a little darker and edgier.

And in the middle you'll find the Queen on Hearts, or at least her head...

Once you make it through her maze, which Ian wanted to get lost in, you come out to a tea party!

I hope you brought your hat.

We're not quite through yet! Time to redeem a fastpass to the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!

I'm sitting with Alli, but she's being super brave now.

And this is a ride that even Theresa can enjoy!

Her and Ian having a great time!

Let's go visit the Hundred Acre Wood and see Winnie the Pooh. It's only a 10 minute wait!

Making new friends in line, or at least trying to say "Hello".

We hopped into our honey pot.

And rode a pretty much identical ride as Florida's Magic Kingdom. It's still cute though.

And we exit through the gift shop where we find all sorts of adorable plushes. Pooh in a big honey pot.

And all the fuzzy plushes need a hug.

Even a Judy Hopps that's as big as her.

A big tackling huh.

On our way towards Toy Story Land, the Sword in the Stone was right there. Ian just had to give it another go. Still no luck though.

We shrink to the size of toys and head into Toy Story Land.

Even the bathrooms are well themed.

Woody and Jessie!

Al was a villain in Toy Story 2, but let's go see his Toy Barn.

Strawberry scented Lotso Huggin Bear.

And yes, that is Alli with a sucker in her hand, reaching in to get another sucker. The cast members are always offering them, and the kids aren't ever saying no. It would be rude, right?

Let's keep going into Tomorrowland.
Ian, even on your tiptoes, you're not quite up to the 122cm you need to be to ride on a Tron Lightcycle.

But, luckily we have a couple that you can play on outside the ride.

You two will get there soon enough. We'll just have to wait 5 more years until it opens at Walt Disney World in Florida!

Inside we can find fun Tron themed merchandise to buy. Like Mickey riding a Lightcycle.

And a Mickey light-up spinner.

Some Tron inspired concept cars by Chevrolet.

And even a car that you can hop into!

Tron sure does look amazing at night!
That's enough pictures for this post. It's almost dinner time, so we'll pick it up from there in the next one.

  1. Such futuristic Tron-inspired cars...seeing Tron at night is a whole lot different than daytime (look at all those lighting effects that give the attraction that "wow" look.) Those Lightcycles look perfect for Ian and Alli...something to dream about riding eventually. That was a fun interaction between Woody & Jessie with Ian & Alli. There was an extra cute factor in the Woody's Roundup ride with those horses...they were so adorable-looking. What a wide open, rustic-looking picnic area...lots of greenery and space to make & chase bubbles (think that was one of the highlights in the kids' day!) Wonder why the Shanghai Mickey ice cream bar gets a plastic protector but the US version doesn't?...maybe too much plastic waste for US park-goers? I like the Mad Hatter Tea Party scene in the maze (all those colorful foods and tea party accessories...almost tempting to taste :-) )...Jacob posed perfectly at the head of the table! Would have been a neat effect if the door that the growling came from would periodically move forward slightly & the chain rattle as if the creature was trying to break out (sort of like the "bulging" door in the Haunted Mansion idea) EOM
