After leaving the Ben & Jerry's Factory, it's time to continue our fall leaf exploration. We're done down here in Waterbury, so let's head north.
We saw some of the most beautiful leaves ever last year in New York on the side of a ski slope at Gore Mountain.
I love the sweeping hillsides. The leaves aren't quite "fiery" here yet.
But it is beautiful.
It's hard to look into the sunshine for a picture.
That's a little better.
We drove through a very narrow mountain pass, with nearly 180 degree turns and one lane width roads going between two immovable boulders. There are signs and bollards trying to dissuade any RVs or delivery trucks from driving through here. It would be near impossible.
Trying to get a photo, but it's hard because that sunshine is starting to get low on the horizon and right in our eyes. It lights up the trees in the background, but ouch on our eyes.
Maybe...
We've got shade! Sort of. In one small patch. How'd that happen?
Ha!
Time to continue on.
We continued through small towns, making our way closer and closer to home.
Looking great on those hills.
Ian and Pop Pop doing a little more rock skipping.
And having fun on the playground here too.
With the light to the side, it's much easier to have open eyes, and we found a great spot to get photos in front of.
I'm sure this, or some form of it, will end up on a Christmas Card or calendar next year.
Gotta get all the permutations with all the different people here.
Time to drive home. That afternoon sun really does wonders to the colors.
For dinner, Mrs. Pauline let us use her stovetop and microwave to heat up BBQ chicken sandwiches and baked beans. It's so good, along with a cup of fresh apple cider.
To wind down the night, we played a new game that Gram brought called Flip 7. Part luck, part strategy, we had a lot of fun and laughs playing it all together. Even Jake joined us! It's been a great day! Tomorrow promises to be lovely too!
But as we came out the other side, we were greeted with more beautiful hillside views.
One more stop before we're done though. Can't forget about Eden lake and the afternoon sunshine.
