We got an even earlier start today so we could get up and have breakfast before we headed to Magic Mountain. Our server Antonia is so nice. We've seen her all three mornings and she's awesome. My eggs benedict were runny, just like they were supposed to be.
It was a head banging, leg clanging ride like usual, but we were on and off by 10:42am.
We spent the rest of the day wandering around to the different rides. Tatsu is a favorite of the kids now.
Wonder Woman, which is so much like the Jersey Devil, is really fun.
Trying something new? The Gold Rusher is the oldest coaster at the park, built in 1971. It has no loops and is extra jerky. I'll raise my hands on just about any ride, but this one, I have to brace myself.
Wanna race?
Even though it's only 2:30pm, we've got to get going. Down in Hermosa Beach there's Wednesday night volleyball and we can't miss it! Plus we've got to meet up with Theresa who is coming back from work travel.
The New Revolution is the first coaster in the modern era with a loop. It's a little jerky too, but the kids had a lot of fun.
While walking through the queue for it though, there is a huge swarm of bees! Ian is more afraid of the bees than any of the coasters!
Back near Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom, we found Flash.
I stopped by Guest Services yet again to let them know the meal plans weren't working and that'd I'd be back in a couple weeks. Hopefully they can sort things out by then...
Back in the South Bay, there's laundry to be done. Living out of suitcases for a couple months means that this is a common occurrence.
We've got our site!
With a little time to kill before the artists dinner tonight, we decided to go to a nearby Chuck E Cheese!
There's not too many left that have the animatronics.
And on the prize wall was a toy we haven't seen before. And it fits perfectly with our chalk mural! Plush Baby Yoda! Of course we can get him! He'll be our little mascot while we're drawing this weekend. (thank you to the worker who let us know we could buy him at the nearby Target for way cheaper than the tickets we're spending).
I already did a write-up for the Pasadena Chalk Festival Artists Party and mural prep work.
We've also got to get ready for our next big event in LA. The Pasadena Chalk Festival!
I've been using the same Staples for years to help print out a 1:1 "blueprint" of our chalk mural. This year we thought it would be fun to see Grogu go to Hogwarts!
Gotta lay it out and check it before we leave the store. I have to play with the colors and invert some things too because the Staples software has gotten smarter and won't print a blueprint if there's too much ink coverage. And to save on printing costs, sometimes I move things around into empty spaces (like the golden snitch) and we just make up what should be there. At $12 per blueprint (this one needing 4), it can start to get pretty pricey for something we're going to throw away as soon as we use it.
And it was really just the one night in the South Bay because the next day, the four of us hopped into the car and drove through downtown LA towards Pasadena!
Then for Day 1 of the festival.
And pictures of all the other artists' murals.
We'll pick up again next time after the chalk festival, and the rest of our time in the LA area.
