Good morning! It's going to be a beautiful day to be at Magic Mountain! Once again we are awake early to go to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. It's really nice that Theresa has hotel status here. We've had some really good meals. Alli learned today that she could even have a smoothie for her drink today! Love it!
When pulling in to the parking toll booth, I had an odd thought. I scanned Ian's pass (which also should have free parking), instead of mine. The worker took a minute and said "this expired 5 months ago". How odd. 10 minutes later, this was the same pass I used to scan him into the park, and that had no difficulties.
The kids wanted to be able to say that they've ridden every roller coaster at Magic Mountain. That includes the ones in Bugs Bunny Land, so we headed there next.
We made it into the park before all the regular passes could enter and instead of going to something close, we made a bee-line for the back of the park.
We rode multiple rides over and over again without having to get off. It was awesome!
After going on the Lex Luthor Drop Tower 7 times, Alli is now loving it!
Eventually the crowds started catching up with us and so we took a break for lunch. Things still don't work, but I have these vouchers at least.
There's even on-ride photos for the little coasters! Could use a little adjusting though.
All three of us together in one photo.
Always love riding Tatsu. And you have to say it a certain way. The kids asked why, and I said it's just tradition.
Well if we're getting a picture with Bugs Bunny in front of guest services, you can pretty much guess why we're here. The meal plan isn't working properly still, so I was back here to get my meal vouchers.
By now, I've got a lot of the people on the Six Flags management team trying to figure it out. But, because of the scanning of the pass at the parking entrance, we might have made a breakthrough.
Dawson, one of the higher-ups who has taken charge on this, started checking something new.
You know how we bought these Six Flags Good-At-Any-Park passes in New York at Darien Lake? That's messing with the system here in California at Magic Mountain. A normal pass would only show up at the home park with all the benefits associated with it. Then when you scan in, the software checks the database, finds your pass, sees your benefits and is good to go.
For our passes though, when we bought the meal plan, somehow in the database the meal-plan passes got associated with Magic Mountain only and not Darien Lake. When we scanned in at the park entrance, it checked the database, saw we had "anywhere" passes and let us in. But when we scanned at a food place, it checked the Magic Mountain database (since the meal plan was associated with it) and didn't see an entry scan. Phew! What a mess.
Once Dawson found the issue, it made sense. He's got to call corporate to get things figured out on their end, but it's nice to finally have a solution. He got the ball rolling. We'll just see if it's fixed by tomorrow.
Once the crowds started showing up after work, we were ready to leave. Another stop by Chuck E Cheese to win a few more tickets and practice our skills.
And I got the 5 jug bonus 4 more times. Yay me!
Still having issues, but whatever.
The next day was Wednesday and it was our last day in Valencia. Today is our final day at Magic Mountain. We ate a hearty breakfast before we left.
Uh oh. Looks like a really big school/summer camp field trip day today. That's going to affect some lines.
We continued our strategy from yesterday, going to the back of the park.
We got multiple rides in on West Coast Racers, along with a bunch of other things.
Good to see you again Flash!
Whoa! Check out Ian putting up some big scores on Milk Jug Toss! He hit 4 a few times, and 3 even more!
Riding the Lex Luthor drop tower we could see him standing around with no one waiting. I guess the pink shirt is pretty distinctive, because we got a wave from him as we were going up the tower.
It's Catwoman! I asked how Isis (her cat) was doing, but didn't get a response.
Will our meal passes work today? Nope! Not yet.
We rode Lex Luthor a bunch of times. One of the times I had the kids go by themselves so I could video the whole thing from afar. That's quite a drop!
Sometimes corporate is slow. I went back to guest services and saw Dawson again. He apologized for it taking so long to figure out and thanked me for being patient through the whole process. It was certainly a process, but I don't think getting angry would have helped much. I filled out a compliment card for him, to show appreciation for him figuring it out.
Before we left, he gave us a skip-the-line-pass for any ride for hanging in there the whole time.
But it's Wednesday and so we've got places to be!
Like back down in Hermosa Beach playing beach volleyball with my friends! Yeah!
Theresa stayed behind at the hotel (said she was tired, but we'll learn there were other reasons). She walked to Trader Joe's to get food and snacks.
After volleyball, we headed to American Junkie to enjoy boneless chicken wings, loaded tater tots, and other treats with our friends.
It's been a fun time in California, but it's starting to come to an end. We'll be slowing things down and headed to Hawaii soon. Looking forward to some down-time over the next few days.
