I'm going back and writing up some old trip reports that have been hanging out for a while. It's April of 2023 and we're in Michigan visiting family. Before the next big event happens in Michigan (write-up coming soon-ish), we've got a bit trip to Washington D.C.!
We got dropped off at the Detroit airport at 10:30am.
Quick through security.
Eating some tasty fruit while we wait for our plane.
Around 6pm, we're walking through Ronald Reagan airport in Washington D.C.
Normally we'd rent a car, but D.C. is one of the rare American cities where traveling on the Metro Trains can actually make sense.
Tickets in hand, we go through the metro entrance right at the airport.
At 6:30pm, it's not too busy here on the train.
From there, it's time to walk to the hotel. Luckily it's only 0.25 miles to walk. It's raining but we did remember to bring umbrellas.
Two umbrellas at least. I'm the sherpa in the back carrying the rest of the luggage.
Who is ready for a fun week in D.C.?
Our hotel is the Hyatt Place Washington DC National Mall. Just a third of a mile from the National Mall and everything else over there.
The room is a standard Hyatt Place room with a couple beds and a seating area. No complaints.
7:30pm and it's dinnertime. We walked to the nearby McDonalds that is having some really good deals for food in their app. It's right on our walk from the hotel to the National Mall and back, so I have a feeling we'll be stopping here a bit.
We've got a full week here in DC. I'm excited for all the stuff we're going to get to see!
