A fun weekend of Pokemon Go Fest, hanging out with friends and free Slurpees on 7/11

What a fun weekend we've just had! This was the biggest Pokemon Go weekend of the year, and Ian and Alli wanted to go somewhere fun to play with their friends. This weekend, we're battling a Pokemon that has never been released before. Mega Mewtwo! Mewtwo is a very powerful Pokemon and we need a lot of Pokemon trainers to battle and bring it down. They invited a bunch of their friends from school to come hang out this weekend and play together!

Welcome families!

All the kids had their devices out and they're ready to battle.

If you didn't know, Pokemon Go is a game where you walk around and catch various Pokemon. At certain locations, there will be Pokemon Gyms where you can battle whatever big boss the Pokemon company has out at the time. Disney Springs is a very popular place for Pokemoners to get together, so we'll be walking around there. There was an online meetup for Disney Springs and I saw 450+ other trainers have said they'll be coming!

Looks like we've got some Pikachu fans in the group.

A fellow Pikachu fan gave away some Pikachu art she created (remember Shrinky-Dinks?). Thank you!

We got a visit from a wandering flowering tree. Her name is Luna from Hawaii. She's on wheels and goes around interacting with guests. Love her!

It was a hot one, so we'd wander to a shady spot, battle the gym, then wander to the next shady spot.

Luckily we'd made it there early enough in the day to get a couple tables together in the shade. Snacks and drinks in between battles.

A very successful day. Let's do it again tomorrow!

It's 7/11 and that means that not only do we get discounted gas at 7-Eleven (on the 7th and 11th each month it's 50 cents off per gallon), but we also get a free Slurpee!

I don't know about that banana flavor (I did send a picture to my banana-loving SIL Megan). I'm having a Coke Slurpee today.

Very refreshing on a hot day.

And uh... because there's a 7-Eleven every few miles here in Florida, maybe we'll stop in the next one too and get another. So good on these hot days.

I tried the new Mountain Dew Confetti Chill. It's got citrus and vanilla flavors.

Now that we're home, let's get a little more walking in. Theresa and I like to go for walks around the campground. A quick check of the weather shows that there's no rain expected for another 2 hours.
But, that crazy Florida afternoon weather means the forecast can be wrong sometimes. When we were about as far away from the RV as we could be, we started getting pelted with big fat raindrops. With no lightning in the area, we sought shelter under a big tree.

That slow rain turned into a hard and driving rain. Our tree that was giving us cover is getting leaky! We're soaked! And the app still said it wasn't raining in our location!

It's getting so wet that it's hard to use the phone. The touchscreen isn't responding to touches because of all the raindrops on it. We did see a radar map showing that it wasn't stopping any time soon.

And since we're already soaked through, why not trudge through the rain back to the RV. A nice warm shower is feeling very welcome right now.

The next day, we're back at Disney Springs early to make sure we get those bunch of tables. They were a welcome break area to come back to.
Yesterday when we got here, Alli said "Daddy, I forgot my sunglasses!" I put down our stuff and headed back out to the parking garage and through security again to bring them to her. Today before leaving the car, I made sure she had them with her. Then we got to the tables.
"Daddy! I forgot my iPad!"
That girl...

Friends arrived! A backpack full of popsicles! Yes please!

Yum!

Yesterday we must have done 20+ battles and Theresa didn't get a shiny Mewtwo (I think the shiny odds are something like 1 in 20). One of our group caught back to back shiny Mewtwos. Today though Theresa got one! Good job T!

Lots more friends today!

Getting in a line to "follow the leader" to the next spot.

Battling the gym and then getting a group photo.

Then off to another Pokestop.

The kids all had a really good time hanging out together and doing things outside of school.

And since I've been gone all day, I didn't have a chance to make pizza on this pizza Sunday. Dominos will have to do.
