Skittles Jelly Beans Taste Test Comparison

Time for more Jellybeans? Absolutely!

Jellybeans have been really great so far this season with both Sour Patch Kids Jellybeans and Starburst Jellybeans tasting nearly identical to the real candies. But today we have a new challenger.

Skittles Jellybeans! Will these new Jelly Beans be able to compare to the original Skittles candies? We definitely know a thing or two about Skittles, having tasted 13 different varieties consisting of 56 unique flavors! And that was just one taste test!

So, we'll be comparing the Skittles jellybeans on the left, to the Skittles candies on the right and see how close they are to each other.

Fantastic job on the bag design. It's bright red with that swooshing rainbow, and features all the Skittles colors. I like the basket filled with jellybeans and the flowers made of Skittles.

These are manufactured by Mars Wrigley and not a third party. That bodes well.

The back of each bag shows the flavors and I'm happy to see that they match up. We've got Lime Skittles back, thank goodness, so we won't have to try anything Green Apple today.

Like many of the jellybeans we've seen this season, the colors don't quite match up. The Skittles jellybeans are not bright and vibrant like the Skittles candies, opting for a deeper saturation instead.

Joe - These colors are dark. Taste the rainbow?
Ian - Taste the "gray-n-bow".
Theresa - They're more of a clear color. I can forgive that for a jellybean.

But they've still managed to print that Skittles "S" on each jellybean.

Let's get to tasting!

Strawberry:
Theresa - Joe, you picked the biggest one!
Ian - It tastes like a Skittle.
Joe - Alright, yeah. It really does taste like a Skittle.
Theresa - Quite a bit. Like they took the outer shell from the candies and put a gummy in the middle.

Lime:
Joe - Sorry Ian.
Theresa - Wow!
Joe - Yeah. Yeah! The flavor is really good!

Grape:
Theresa - MMM! YEAH! Those are hitting!
Joe - That is Skittles Grape!
Theresa - Wow! Now I'm going to pick the biggest ones!

Lemon:
Theresa - I like that lemon.
Joe - It's not super strong lemon.
Alli - It's good though.
Joe - And it is Skittles lemon flavor.

Orange:
Theresa - Yeah! That one is really strong!
Alli - What is up with these jelly beans? They are so good!
Joe - Wow!
Theresa - These are some really good jelly beans this year!
Ian - They're hitting hard!
Theresa - These flavors though. So stinking good!

Alli - The Skittles candies I think are better than the Jelly Beans.
Joe - Yeah, I appreciate the crunchier shell. But the jelly beans definitely got the flavors right.
Theresa - I like the candies better too. But... It is literally a Skittles Jellybean. They got it right.
Ian - Definitely not disappointing. Skittles. Nailing it!
Theresa - I'm so impressed with the Jelly Beans this year! Why you would eat a regular Brach's jelly bean after this, I don't know.

Thumbs up all around for the Skittles Jellybeans!

Biting each candy in half, we can see that the centers of the Skittles candies are white, while the Skittles Jellybeans appear clear. The flavoring must all be in the outer shell.

Squishing the halves together.

Time to taste the rainbow.

Yum! This was a good one!
