Starburst Jelly Beans Taste Test Comparison

Well, we've already had some really tasty Jelly Beans this Easter season. I think we're going to try a few more before they all disappear until next year. 

Today, we're trying Starburst Jelly Beans! That yummy treat has some really good flavors, including the best Strawberry flavor you could want. 

We have tried so many different Starburst items, including Starburst Yogurt, Starburst Gum, Starburst Gelatin, Starburst Fruit By The Foot, Starburst Strawberry Sorbet Bars, Starburst Powdered Drink Mix, Freeze-Dried Starbursts, another Starburst Gelatin, Starburst Airs and Starburst Gummies, Starburst Ice Splash Sparkling Water, and even Starburst Cotton Candy.

Can these Starburst Jelly Beans match the flavor of one of the best fruity candies there is? Let's find out! 

Of course, we'll be comparing the Starburst Jellybeans to the real Starburst candies. 

From what I can tell on the package, these are made by the Mars candy company themselves, and not farmed out to a 3rd party. That's promising! 

I'm very happy to see that we have the 4 classic Starburst flavors available. Cherry, Orange, Lemon, and Strawberry. Not like when Starburst attempted to make gelatin and completely skipped Orange, making Blue Raspberry instead. 

I like that they've stamped each of the beans "Starburst" 

The colors don't quite match on any of the candies, but we'll see how they taste. 

And what's this? Two extra flavors? 

Along with the classic 4 flavors, we're also getting a Green Apple Starburst Jellybean and a Grape Jellybean. Interesting!

Doing a quick search, I could only find Green Apple and Grape Starburst in the Starburst Sours variety, but that was discontinued back in 2023, so we won't be able to compare those flavors. 

The jellybeans are colorful and very deeply saturated. Not the "pale" colors that I'm used to seeing with Starbursts. But the real questions is, how do they taste? 

We'll start off with the Starburst Jellybeans. 

Cherry:

Theresa - That's Starburst Cherry. I don't like it. 

Joe - But you don't like Starburst Cherry. 

Alli - That is!

Orange: 

Theresa - Mmm. That's Orange Starburst. 

Joe - Yes! It's a creamy orange, like the Starburst. Not a sharp orange.

Lemon: 

Theresa - I like yellow usually too. Yep! I like that lemon.

Joe - That really tastes like a Starburst Lemon!

Alli - It's Jellybean season folks!

Joe - The crunchy texture on the outside throws me off a little. It's interesting. They got the right flavor for sure, but it's definitely in a jellybean form. 

Theresa - They're jellybean texture, but I would eat all of them. 

Alright, here's the big one. Starburst Strawberry. Can the jellybean match the flavor? 

Strawberry:

Ian - <closes his eyes to focus> That's so on point!

Theresa - Wow! Why are there only 6 in the bag! Why are there 16 million greens!

Joe - That... is Starburst Strawberry. They did it! 

Alli - That is really good. 

Theresa - That is so good. 

Joe - We have tried a LOT of Starburst Strawberry "things" but that one actually got the right flavor. Wow. 

Alli - The sorbet bars were pretty good. The jellybeans this year are great!

Green Apple: 

Theresa - This is green apple? Aww. I was hoping it would be lime.

Joe - No, that's Skittles. Ian you should like this one though. 

Theresa - It's actually a decent green apple. I would actually eat that one. 

Joe - It's green apple. 

Alli - I don't know if it tastes like what I'd think a Starburst Green Apple would taste like. I would expect it to be more mellow. 

Grape: 

Theresa - Aww, I thought you were giving me two. 

Joe - I don't think they make a Starburst Grape anymore. 

Theresa - Smack, smack, smack. If they did though, it would be GOOD!

Joe - What is that grape flavor? 

Theresa - Yummy. 

Ian - Medicine. 

Joe - It's not medicine flavored. 

Alli - It's kinda Skittley. 

Joe - You're right Alli. It is a little Skittley. 

Ian - I'm going back for more Green Apple. 

Alli - I want more Pink! That Strawberry is spot on. 

Looking through the bag, we came across a couple weird looking ones. 

Alli - It's a fusion!

Ian - Is it a new flavor? 

Theresa - Bonus flavor?

Joe - Does it have an extra big shell? 

I cut it in half and found that it's an extra thick shell. The underlying flavor was definitely cherry. 

Theresa - For all the jellybeans, I want the ones that are disfigured because the shell is bigger! 

The insides all seem to be the same clear base. I'm guessing they're all the same flavor inside, with the uniqueness being the shells on the outside. Not like Jelly Belly Jelly Beans where the centers are a unique flavor themselves. 

Ian - I'm going to squish them all together. 

Ian - It looks like a Willy Wonka Everlasting Gobstopper! 

Joe - It does! 

Theresa - Those were good. Truthfully, there's nothing in that bag I wouldn't eat. 

Alli - Pink was my favorite. They're all good and I would eat every single one. 

Theresa - Mine too. Jellybeans are on fire this season. 

Joe - They did a really good job matching all those flavors.
