Sour Patch Kids Jelly Beans - Taste Test Comparison with Aubrey and Jared

Time to add one more item to the growing list of all the different Sour Patch Kids things we have tried. There's been Sour Patch Kids Ice Pops, Ice Cream, Sour Patch Kids Cereal, Marshmallows, Yogurt, Sour Patch Kids Chips Ahoy Cookies, Sour Patch Kids Watermelon Ice Pops, Sour Patch Kids Freezer Pops, Sour Patch Kids PopcornSour Patch Kids GelatinSour Patch Kids Gum and even Sour Patch Kids Oreos

With Easter here, we have received a special Sour Patch Kids Jelly Bean!

And I love when we can do taste tests with someone who really really loves the thing we're tasting. Aubrey and Jared are visiting from Michigan and she loves Sour Patch Kids!

So I was happy that we could taste them with her! And like always, we'll compare these new Sour Patch Kids Jelly Beans to the Original Sour Patch Kids and see how close they really are to the real thing.

I love that Jared and Aubrey make time for their cousins even when they're in Florida on vacation. They asked if they could take the kids for the day and hang out together. Theresa and I have some cleaning up to do before we start our summer travels, so that works out perfectly!

The kids got to play in the pool with them, doing volleyball.

Love those glasses Ian.

Taking a quick break for Truffle Fries, Chicken Tenders and Fried Plantains. Theresa said she knows exactly who ordered which item without even asking.

Then it was back to the pool for more volleyball! Aubrey said they played over a dozen games!

Before bringing the kids back home, of course they needed to stop at Bahama Bucks for shaved ice!

It's another one of Aubrey's favorites, and you can't find it in Michigan.

But, on to the Sour Patch Kids Jelly Beans.
I do like all the bright colors on the jelly beans. They seem more vibrant than the ones you might find from Brach's.
What's everyone's favorite flavor?
Aubrey - Red, then Blue, then green.
Joe - Either Blue Raspberry or Red Berry.
Alli - Same for me.
Theresa - I like Lemon or Orange.
Jared - I like Orange.
Alli - I like sour.

What an adorable Sour Patch Kid bunny!

I like that they have every flavor of the original Sour Patch Kids represented in Jelly Bean form. Everyone has a different flavor that is their favorite, and it would be a shame if something was missing. I still can't believe Starburst released a Jello with Strawberry, Lemon, Cherry, and Blue Raspberry, but no Orange
Seeing the Jelly Beans though, I have some concerns. Sour Patch Kids are known for being... sour.

Joe - Where's the sour coating on the outside? Where's the sugar? They don't look like they could be sour.
Theresa - I don't think they are sour.
Joe - But they're Sour Patch Kids! They have to be!

The ingredients say there's citric acid, so we'll just have to see if it comes through.

Trying a Blue.

Theresa - Oh! They are sour!
Aubrey - MMM!
Joe - They did hide the sour in there! Nice!
Theresa - Wow! That is actually a good jelly beans! I'm impressed!
Ian - That's on par!
Theresa - That's like a Sour Patch Kid with a harder sugary outside coating.
Aubrey - I like the sugary shell.
Theresa - Oh my goodness. I am so impressed right now.

Aubrey - Normally I'd lick up all that extra sugar.
Joe - And I like the flavor.

Theresa - And now the Sour Patch Kid doesn't taste as sour.
Aubrey - I feel like the Sour Patch Kid has a little stronger flavor, but the jelly beans are really good.
Alli - The flavor of the blue is spot on.
Ian - Like, super spot on.

Time for Red.
Joe - Tastes like a Redberry.
Aubrey - The sourness is there.
Theresa - It is! I am so impressed!
Joe - My worries were unfounded. I do like the sugar coating.
Alli - That one tastes better than the real Sour Patch Kid.
Theresa - That is way better than I thought they would be.
Joe - Me too! I was thinking it would be more like Brach's jelly beans, but these are definitely Sour Patch Kids.

Time for Orange
Joe - Jared's favorite.
Jared - Yep! The second you bite into this, it hits you with the sourness.
Theresa - The orange didn't taste quite as sour as the others.
Joe - But it's there. It's good.
Jared - That one is really good.
Aubrey - The orange has a more punch of flavor. It's very orange.
Ian - The flavor is there. It hits hard. To me, the Jelly Bean tastes more like the Sour Patch Kid than the Sour Patch Kid tastes like itself.
Theresa - It has a flavor like those Orange Slices from Brach's. That's what it reminds me of.

Yellow is next.
Alli - Not a surprise.
Aubrey - That one was a lot more sour. The shell was thicker and it tasted more sour.
Ian - It tastes like cleaner to me.
Theresa - I really like that one.

Green
Joe - Lime I hope!
Aubrey - What was it... Skittles! I loved the Green Apple and then they changed it to Lime!
Ian - Same! I know!
Joe - I was happy for the change.
Theresa - I don't care for the Lime Jelly Beans. That one tastes more like cleaner to me.
Joe - Really? I don't get that.

Alli - I think the Jelly Beans actually win against the Sour Patch Kids!
Theresa - Those were so good. I don't usually say that about your taste tests. They didn't look that impressive, but they were great!
Aubrey - I was very impressed with the jelly beans.
Joe - Sour Patch Jelly Beans. Good job!
Theresa - That was one of the best "tried to be like the other candy" taste tests we've ever done.
Alli - They WERE the other candy, but BETTER!

Thumbs up from everyone! If you can find these and you like Sour Patch Kids, definitely give them a try!

It was great to see Jared and Aubrey! Thanks for hanging out with the kids today.

Looking forward to seeing you again soon!
