I've got to get this one last taste test written up before we get too far away from Easter.
We love Peeps (except Theresa). Their marshmallow insides and crunchy sugar coated outsides makes for a very tasty treat. We've tried so many different flavors of Peeps, and then lots of Peeps flavored things, like Cereal, Soda, Lollipops, Gummy Candy, Cotton Candy, and more! Now we've got one more Peeps flavored item to add to the list. Jelly Beans!
The 4 fun flavors are Lemon, Strawberry, Marshmallow, and Blueberry.
I've seen Strawberry flavored Peeps, and of course Marshmallow flavored Peeps, but I need to keep a better lookout for Lemon and Blueberry flavored ones.
Ian - It just tastes like a lemon jelly bean.
Jacob - It's good, but it's not Jelly Belly good.
Theresa - I like lemon jelly beans.
Joe - It's not a bad lemon.
Ian - It doesn't taste like Peeps at all.
Theresa - It's not a strong lemon flavor. I wonder if it's trying to be a little soft to be like marshmallow/lemon.
Jacob - I don't like the aftertaste.
Alli - I like it though. It reminds me of a lemonhead.
Theresa - You get the lemon flavor at the beginning, then it's all gone and it's just sweet and soft.
The Strawberry Peeps Jelly Bean is next.
Ian - Mmmm!
Theresa - That's a good strawberry! I like it.
Ian - Those are really really good.
Joe - I'm trying to think what that strawberry reminds me of.
Jacob - It's a little too fake for me. I like the lemon better.
Theresa - It's no Starburst Strawberry, but it's good. It does taste a little floral at the end.
Ian - Ugh.
Alli - Is that toasted marshmallow?
Ian - I'm getting buttered popcorn flavor.
Joe - No, I think it's like the Jelly Belly marshmallow flavor. It'd definitely got that "toasted" flavor to it. It's not just a sweet marshmallow flavor.
Jacob - I like that one for a non-fruity flavored center.
Joe - These jelly bean shells are very soft. Definitely different than a Jelly Belly. Not crunchy.
Alli - I remember this one time we were making candles. And there was a vanilla scent that smelled like popcorn. That's what this tastes like.
Theresa - It's a little too strong for me. It's an overkill vanilla.
And now blueberry!
Joe - Is it really going to be a blueberry flavor?
Alli - It's like a blueberry muffin flavor.
Joe - That is a blueberry flavor. Wow.
Jacob - It's pretty mild.
Joe - I thought they might go for a blue raspberry type flavor, but that is a subtle blueberry. That's really good. You don't see all that many blueberry flavored things.
Thoughts on the Jelly Beans?
Joe - None of those reminded me of Peeps. They were all just Jelly Beans that were fine by themselves. I didn't hate any of them.
Jacob - Lemon and marshmallow were good.
Ian - I really liked the strawberry.
Ian - Now we try all the different Peeps!
Jacob - Are they all that different though? They just taste like marshmallow.
Joe - I'm going to have this blue fluffy bunny.
Theresa - Don't make it explode! I just cleaned it out!
Joe - Look! He even has a bunny tail! (a blue jelly bean stuck to the exposed sticky marshmallow)
Theresa - Are we sure it's a tail?
Joe - NO Theresa! Don't go there. It's a tail.
Theresa - It's a very fluffy bunny. If I liked Peeps, that's the one I would eat.
Jacob - How big do they get when you microwave them?
Alli - I want to try that experiment!
In it goes! It was puffing up really big!
This was a fun taste test!
