Skittles Dipping Candy (like Fun Dip) Taste Test Comparison

It's time for another fun Skittles Taste Test! We've done so many different taste tests that have involved Skittles, including Skittles Jelly Beans, Skittles Cotton Candy, Freeze Dried Skittles of course, Skittles Candy Canes, Skittles Yogurt, Skittles Drink Mix, Skittles Freezer Pops, and even a mega taste test with 13 different bags of Skittles consisting of 56 different flavors! 

So when the kids got a new Skittles Candy in their stocking from their Aunt and Uncle, I knew we'd have to turn it into a taste test. 

It's Skittles Dipping Candy, which looks a whole lot like the Lik-m-aid/Fun Dip I remember growing up! Looks like a fun candy to try with friends!  

It looks like we've got 4 of the 5 Skittles flavors covered. I'm impressed that went that far with it. We've got Lemon, Orange, Grape, and Strawberry dipping candy. On top of that, we've even got flavored dipping sticks! Not just the chalky white powdered sticks in Fun Dip. We've got both Strawberry and Lemon flavored dipping sticks! I like the effort they're putting into making this! The Frankford company that makes this also makes the Kraft Mac & Cheese Gummy Candies and the Claussen Pickle Flavored Jelly Beans. 

The flavored dipping sticks are stamped with the Skittles logo on one side. 

And Dig'n Dips on the back side. Strange that I didn't see Dig'n Dips anywhere on the packaging. It seems to be Frankford candy's dipping candy brand that they use when partnering with others, like Disney, Super Mario, and Stranger Things. 

Alright, enough of the hold-up. These kids are ready to eat some pure sugar!

What's your favorite flavor? 

Charlotte - Red! 

Savannah - Grape!

Alli - Strawberry!

Mike - Green!

Joe - Which green? Lime or Green Apple? 

Mike - Lime. Not Green Apple. 

Ian - Aww. (he was so disappointed when they took Green Apple away)

There is no Lime or Green Apple here in the powder today though. 

We figured the easier way to taste all the powder would be to have a spoon and have a master spoon to distribute the powder. 

Let's start with the Lemon Powder.

Ian - It doesn't smell like anything. And it tastes like coconut. 

Joe - I wouldn't call that Skittles. It does have a tropical flavor to it. 

Savannah - That is NOT Skittles!

Joe - Oh, it's always interesting when someone goes straight for the trash can. Sorry Beth. 

Try a real Lemon Skittle now. 

Savannah - That is COMPLETELY different. No way. 

Theresa - I agree with you. 

Joe - Original Skittle is way better. 

Orange Powder is next. 

Savannah - I feel like Orange is always easier to create. 

Ian - If they nail the strawberry, that's the thing. 

Joe - That tastes chemically. 

Ian - Like Froot Loops. 

Mike - It's a medicine flavor. 

Theresa - It's a weird after-taste.

Joe - It's Medicine flavored orange. 

Savannah - It's not sweet enough.

Joe - It's made of sugar! How is it not sweet enough? 

Savannah - It's sweet, but bitter and sour. 

Mike - And a chalky aftertaste.

Savannah - Orange. Gross. 

Beth - I don't love the powder consistency.  

And the real orange Skittle?

So good. 

Theresa - Whoever came up with the Skittles flavors did so good. 

Joe - It's a creamy orange. 
Mike - Creamsicle. 

Theresa - Whoever made that powder, I don't know what they were tasting. It wasn't this. 

Time for the grape powder. 

Theresa - It smells like grape. 

Mike - But it smells like grape marker. 

Savannah - That's the exact same taste!

Joe - I do not agree. 

Beth - This is the least offensive. 

Theresa - It's Rainblo bubblegum balls grape. 

Ian - I'm still getting a tropical flavor too. 

Alli - It's grape at least. 

Mike - I don't hate it. 

Theresa - The first taste was grape, but the aftertaste was coconut. 

Charlotte - All of them have coconuts. 

Joe - The grape dust was not good. Not Skittles flavor. 

The actual grape Skittle tasted great. 

Alright, time for the strawberry powder. 

Theresa - I feel like strawberry candy is my favorite. Even if it's not Skittles, I still usually like the taste.

Joe - Mmm, Strawberry Starburst is the best strawberry candy. 

Alli - It smells tropical again. Like Skittles and chemicals. 

Ian - That tastes like the strawberry creme freeze from Taco Bell. And it's good. 

Joe - It's still not Skittles. It's chemical strawberry. 

Theresa - I don't like the aftertaste of all of these. 

I then cut up all the sticks into sampling size pieces. Will those flavors be any better than the powder? 

Ian - I'd like to know if the flavors would taste any better with the stick.

Alli - Like they have opposite chemicals. 

Trying the Strawberry Stick.

Mike - Oh! Definitely not!

Beth - It's giving me Flintstone vitamin vibes. 

Savannah - It's better, but it's completely off.  

And the Lemon Dipping Stick?

Mike - That probably has the most flavor out of all of these. It's not a good flavor though. 

Savannah - It's the closest one. 

Alli - What if we mixed all the powder together? 

Joe - Taste the Rainbow Alli? 

Mixing all the powders together. 

Alli - It tastes tropical. 

Savannah - It actually tastes kinda good.

Joe - No it does not. It has more medicine flavor than any one of them by itself. 

Savannah - Oh wait no. I don't like that. 

Joe - I thought you just said it was good!

Savannah - Then I tried it again. 

The kids each grabbed one of each flavor Skittle and squished them together. 

Ian - Let's use it as a stick! 

Theresa - This taste test confirmed that Skittles are good! 

Theresa - Favorite is regular Skittles. Don't buy the powder. 

Alli - The best stick was the lemon stick, and my favorite powder was strawberry. But Skittles were way better. 

Savannah - First, never buy this, it does not taste good. Unless you like coconut and medicine. Just buy original Skittles. They taste so much better. 

Joe - How do you mess up Fun Dip? 

Mike - Add Skittles! 

Charlotte - (mouth full of candy)

Beth - She needs additional data. 

Charlotte - Red original Skittles. 

Ian - The Skittles are so much better. No matter how cheap 5Below puts the Skittles Dipping Candy, don't buy it. The strawberry powder was the best, tasting like a Taco Bell freeze. The Strawberry original Skittle was the best candy. 

Joe - Beth, what are your thoughts? You threw away 3 of the 4 spoons of powder.
Beth - Hard pass on the Fun Dip version of Skittles. Maybe I'm just not a Fun Dip fan. But I'm an original Skittles fan. This is not a perfect stocking stuffer, like the label tries to say. 

Alli - Perfect for people you don't like. 

Joe - It was unique, but wow it could have been done much better. 

Savannah - Note to the people at Skittles. Don't let people just use your brand. You need to taste it first! 

Mike - The Grape powder was probably closest to the Skittles flavor, but it was still a miss. 

Savannah - Do not buy Skittles Fun Dip. It does not taste good. Buy Skittles. Buy Fun Dip. 

Theresa - I think they were just making a generic strawberry, lemon, orange, and grape flavor and didn't even try to match Skittles. 

Savannah - They took the best of Skittles and turned it into the worst thing that ever happened.

Joe - That's going to go great on the blog. Savannah, Skittles is going to ban you. No more Skittles for that girl.
