Florida Christmas Games - 2021-12-20

Merry Christmas! There's so many of us here in Florida that we all decided to celebrate Christmas together. And sure we could have bought a bunch of gifts for each other, but that's a lot of people to get presents for, and then you've got to transport them. It's a lot of work! But there's one thing that everybody likes. Money!

And sure, you could just put money into a card and pass it out, but there's better ways to earn money. Games! Why not spend the day competing against each other in games of skill and games of chance to win your Christmas present? Each family came up with 3 unique games and we had a lot of laughs playing together all day.

Finishing our 500 challenge!

Today is New Years Eve and with that, we'll be happy to close out 2021. How have you done on your New Years Resolutions?

There's one resolution that we've been working towards all year, and that is to join the 500 Club. What's the 500 Club? It was anything we wanted it to be, as long as it got us outside and moving around. It can mean something different to everyone.

It started with my Dad, Mickey Flowers, who made it a goal to complete 500 Manitou Inclines in less than a year. Just to do 1 Manitou Incline is a challenge, but 500 in one year? That's extreme!
My Mother, Sheila Flowers, decided that she was going to make it a goal to her 10,000 steps a day, and then walk 500 miles on top of that in one year. Great goal!
And for my family, we like both bike riding and walking, so we're going to try to do 500 miles of each in just one year!

Let's do it!

Holiday Treats - Funfetti Candy Canes

Maybe I'm just noticing it this year, but the candy cane company Spangler has gone all out in making different candy cane flavors this year.

Knowing I like to try all sorts of crazy stuff, and also because it went along with our "Try All the Funfetti things" taste test, the kids surprised me with a box of these Funfetti Candy Canes!

The box of Funfetti Candy Canes looks super colorful. And we just can't have these candy canes by themselves. We're going to have to make some Funfetti cupcakes to go along with it!

Holiday Treats - Seasonal Flavored Goat Cheeses

I am always on the lookout for interesting holiday treats. I totally found that when I was exploring my local Aldi.

Holiday Goat Cheese logs! Sure you've seen cranberry covered goat cheese, but we're going for something a little more unique today. The three flavors we're trying today are: Gingerbread, Sweet Cranberry Stuffing, and Eggnog.

Christmas Day in Florida

Twas the night before Christmas.

It's been a very busy week leading up to Christmas (more to come on that in a future post) but for now, the Michigan families are visiting us in Florida and we've all rented hotel rooms at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando.

And even though we're in a hotel room, that doesn't mean we can't decorate it a little bit for the holidays. Our mini Christmas tree, all Alli's ornaments, and our Christmas stockings all made the journey to help spruce up the room for Christmas.

Pizza at Home - Pineapple Four Ways Pizza

Those of you who think pineapple on pizza is an abomination might just want to skip reading this week's pizza post. This week is all about that tasty fruit that goes so great on pizza that it is getting a pizza dedicated entirely to it. This pizza is going to have pineapple on it in four different ways!

Holiday Treats - Skittles Candy Canes

We've all had a regular peppermint candy cane, but what about something that has even more flavors? What about a 5 flavored candy cane? And what if they all tasted like Skittles?

Spangler, the largest candy cane company in the world, has teamed up with Mars Wrigley to bring us Skittles flavored candy canes this Christmas!

We sure do enjoy Skittles, as you'll see in a soon to be written post. These Skittles candy canes have a beautiful twist of the red, orange, yellow, green, and purple Skittles colors.
