Arby's Meat Mountain sandwich

I've been meaning to try this for some time. The Meat Mountain from Arby's. Back home I just don't have an Arby's close by, so I've never made the trek to find one. Finally, I was able to track one down.

What is the Meat Mountain? Read on.

When you think Arby's, if you're like me, you think roast beef. I think their roast beef is delicious, but their marketing department wanted us to know that they have so much more than roast beef.

The story goes that they created this poster showcasing all the meats they had available and early customers saw it and asked for the sandwich in the picture. Thus the Arby's Meat Mountain was born. It's not listed on the regular menu, but if you're lucky when you visit, the cashier will know that it's on the secret menu.

Now you know the how, time for the what. To build a Meat Mountain you'll need:
  • 3 slices of pepper bacon
  • 1.5 ounces of brisket
  • 1.5 ounces of Angus steak
  • 1.5 ounces of corned beef
  • 1.5 ounces of roast beef
  • 1.5 ounces of ham
  • 1.5 ounces of roast turkey
  • 2 chicken tenders
  • 1 slice of Swiss cheese
  • 1 slice of cheddar cheese
  • A bun big enough to hold it all
This sandwich comes in at just under a pound and contains around 800 calories. A Big Mac contains 550 calories, so comparatively I don't think that's all that bad.

This sandwich can be yours for only $10. I particularly liked how the manager kept repeating to herself "Meat Mountain Challenger" over and over after I ordered mine.

Looks pretty amazing right?

Results?
This was certainly a mountain of meat and it's right up my alley. There were so many flavors of meat all going on at once from smoky to savory. You've also got different textures with the bacon and chicken tenders. The only thing that surprised me was the temperature. I guess I was expecting this to be a hot sandwich, but because of all the deli meats, it was more lukewarm and not even hot enough to melt either of the two cheese slices.

In the end though, I thought this was a delicious sandwich. I would absolutely order it again and if you're a fan of meat like I am, I encourage you to order one too!

  1. Megan hates Arby's so we haven't been in a while (not even for a Jamocha shake!), but I think we need to split up for dinner one night so I can try this :)
