National Linguine Day - September 15th

Today is National Linguine Day so we all headed to Olive Garden for dinner! And look who is here! Gram and Pop Pop!

We all love creamy pastas. Time for some Linguine Alfredo! No, not that Alfredo Linguini.

I was hoping Olive Garden would have a Linguine noodle that I could substitute for my Fettuccine noodles, but the only version they had was Whole Wheat Linguine. Eh, well, we tried. Guess we're turning this into Fettuccine Day instead.

Which got me to thinking, what's the difference between Linguine and Fettuccine. I thought it was just the width of the noodle.
Linguine - Made of flour and water, extruded (so you can't make it at home so easily), used with thin sauces, thinner in width than fettuccine.
Fettuccine - Made of flour and eggs, rolled (so you can make it fresh at home), used with thick sauces.

It's delicious!

  1. Extra special treat to have the other grandparents in town to celebrate the National "Fettuccine/Linguine" Day! Funny how I started to look up the differences between Fettuccine and Linguine after you first mentioned the two noodles, only to find you had included a link in the post when I scrolled to the next picture (lol)...actually, your link gave a better synopsis of the differences than what I came across initially! Glad you didn't have "Alfredo Linguini" for dinner...that was cute :-) Looks like everyone enjoyed a delicious pasta meal and more family time together! EOM
