National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day - April 12th

Happy National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day! This tasty comfort food dates back to the 1920s, when sliced bread and the extra melty American cheese became available.
Ian asked if we'd be having them with chips, like last time. He was remembering back to November when we tasted these with the Lays Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup chips

And is there really anything better to eat with Grilled Cheese than tomato soup? Apparently yes. Neither kid wanted tomato soup to go with theirs, instead opting for ramen and chicken noodle. Well to each their own I guess.
Mmm, mmm, mmm. Look at that bread. GBD, Golden Brown Delicious. Perfectly cooked if I do say so myself.

Theresa is opting to have hers the original way it was enjoyed, open faced.

While both kids asked me to cut it for them. Into rectangles, not on the diagonal.

What a tasty national day!

  1. Couldn't agree more...nicely browned bread (just right!)...looks like the family enjoy their grilled cheese sandwiches, regardless if it's the designated National Day or not :-) Btw, that's a pretty "Sugar & Spice bowl-cup"...like the color and Tinkerbell decor. EOM

    1. They were pretty delicious!
Theresa does like those bowls. I've been able to find quite a few of them in the same series, all the same shape. From what I can remember off the top of my head, I got her a Snow White, Pinocchio, Nightmare Before Christmas, and a purple Tinker Bell as well.
