Doritos Nacho Cheese Smartfood Popcorn taste test comparison

Today we've got a special taste test planned. It's Doritos, but it's not. Smartfood Popcorn has teamed up with Doritos to put their delicious Nacho Cheese powder on their popcorn!

It's a limited time flavor that I happened to find at Sam's Club while I was shopping. Of course we're going to compare that to the Original Doritos. 

Who are these people who would keep popcorn separate from Doritos? Everyone I showed the bag to thought it was an excellent idea. 

Cheddar popcorn by itself is delicious. Make that Doritos Nacho Cheddar and it can only be better. The popcorn has that orange color that comes with a cheesy dusting of powder. We have seen much brighter orange cheddar on the Cheetos popcorn, but this is appropriately colored for a Dorito. 

These aren't spicy Ian. Not need to worry. 

Starting with the Smartfood Doritos Nacho Cheese popcorn, we were surprised to find that it had a little bit of a kick to it. 

Compared to the original Doritos Nacho Cheese chips, the popcorn has a bit more spice to it. The Doritos are cheesy, but bland. I think that's why all of us preferred something besides the original when we did our big Doritos Chips taste test. 

And the proof is in the tasting plate. People went back again and again for another bit of popcorn, compared to the Doritos chips. 

And though the package is from Smartfood, don't be confused into thinking it's a health food. By serving size, which is 28g for each, the popcorn actually has more calories than the chips. I do think you'd be more satisfied eating 2 1/3 cups of popcorn compared to 12 chips though. 

Ultimately, the Doritos popcorn lived up to my expectations and I'd definitely buy it again if I was looking for a cheddar popcorn.
