Making Sonic at Home!

This Make at Home series can keep going and going!
I can't say that I've been to Sonic Drive-In all that frequently, but when I've gone there, it's been tasty. And there's a few things that stand out to me there. And to use their current slogan, "This Is How We Sonic."

The kids had a regular Sonic Cheeseburger, while I made a Super Sonic Cheeseburger (2 patties) for myself.

And Sonic's Footlong Quarter Pound Coney Dog, topped with chili and cheese, is especially delicious.

Yes they serve fries, but you can get fries anywhere. I think the side-dish that stands out to me are their tots. And not just any tots. Add in some chili and cheese and they're wonderful. I told Ian that they were famous for their chili cheese tots which made him even more excited to try them.

I didn't have cups big enough to get a true Route 44 Cherry Limeade, so this will have to do for everyone. Crushed ice, lemon-lime soda, cherry juice and a cherry on top. The kids loved them.

Aww, Theresa. I don't think that's how you're supposed to Sonic.

It all looks delicious! Let's eat!

First we try those famous tots. I actually split the tots into two bowls. Some with chili and cheese, some without. Never know what the kids might like.
Turns out they loved chili and cheese tots! They love chili and wanted more on their plate to dip everything in.

Alli preferred the Coney dog over the burgers. I can see that. It was really good.

And Ian devoured everything on his plate. His favorite was the tots. I gave him extra chili which he ended up having on his burger.
He even surprised me when he said this was his second favorite meal that we've made a home, his first being Olive Garden at Home.

This being one of the simpler meals to pull together and still so much of a favorite was a pleasant surprise.

  1. Oh my goodness...outdid yourself in all the Sonic logos on the various items (and the "Sonic at Home" greeting)! Chili is yummy, and if you like cheese (like the kids and big kids do) I can see how chili & cheese is a delicious choice. Sometimes the simplest can be the best :-) EOM

    1. You never know what's going to be a favorite, do you. And sometimes it's surprising.
