Making Garlic Cheddar Pull-Apart Bread

Theresa does a great job at planning our meals for the week. With a small-ish RV fridge, we don't have a lot of room for extra stuff. Today's meal is one of Alli's favorites, spaghetti, but out of the blue, Theresa asked me if I could make bread to go along with it?

I certainly can! And I've got just the thing that's been in my queue. Today I'm making a Garlic Cheddar Pull-Apart Bread!

I find myself going to SallysBakingAddiction.com so often for recipes that I'd like to make. This is originally a Rosemary Garlic Pull Apart Bread, but I'm not the biggest fan of rosemary. I'll leave it out in mine.

I don't have a mixer, so instead I used a silicone spatula and a glass bowl to stir this extra wet dough without having to knead it by hand.

I also made the filling, which consisted of butter, parsley, fresh garlic, salt, parmesan, and cheddar cheese.

Mix it all together and leave it on the counter to stay at room temperature to spread easier.

I leave my doughs outside in the heat and humidity to help with the rise. This had puffed up nicely.

I divided the dough into twelve pieces. I placed each piece between parchment and flattened it like I would a hamburger. Then I spread my butter filling into the middle. Instead of stacking circles into my loaf pan, I folded each piece in half so the butter is in the middle.

I then stack these half-circles in my loaf pan, which keeps the butter from leaking out.

Once again it gets covered and sent outside to the 90F temperature, even at 5pm.

The risen loaf goes into a 350F oven. After 20 minutes, the top is starting to get a bit brown.

That means it gets tented with foil for the remaining 25 minutes. Theresa was with the kids at the pool and when she came inside she was wondering what that amazing smell was. I'm thinking it was the garlic and butter.

Looks perfect to go along with our spaghetti tonight.

And the middle was filled with such delicious butter, garlic, and cheese.

Theresa thought it was great! I asked "what should I change for next time?"
Theresa - Next time I won't eat 2 bowls of lentil soup before dinner, so I can eat more bread.

Alli was giving me Mango smiles.

Ian - Daddy, you make the best bread!

Thanks buddy! It was really tasty! I would definitely make this again!

  1. So wonderful you can make do with the RV "limitations" and turn out homemade bread...that loaf looked wonderfully buttery, garlicky, soft, and simply scrumptious...yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummy! Before being "pulled apart" the loaf looked so perfectly shaped, too! Love Theresa's response to your question, "What should I change for next time?" :-) Very nice baking job (Ian definitely agrees :-) )! EOM
