Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! We sure are grateful for all the mothers in our lives. There's Theresa who is a fantastic mother to Ian and Alli.

And we're visiting Colorado right now, so I get to spend Mother's Day with my mother too!

And we're fortunate that we get to visit Theresa's mother so often too. We're blessed.
So did we have a fun day?

Of course we did! Theresa and I fixed a tasty Havana Mania inspired meal for everyone to enjoy.

And the kids have been super busy in the basement, working on a secret project. Finally on Mother's Day, it was time to unveil the surprise! They've made a whole Mother's Day Carnival!
They walked the moms down the stairs, passing a sign that said "Rule. Do not bring your own snaks!"
When they got to the bottom, another confetti shower welcomed them, but this time they used puff balls instead of little paper confetti. Much better!

There's a whole bunch of different games to play. Like 5 of them, including Knock over the Cups, Darts, Basketball, Land in the Basket, and Shell game.

Plus they made a roller coaster ride, complete with meteors on the chairs, and a pit of lava at the end. Scary!

For all these games, you earn yourself tickets, and Ian kept track of everyone's total on a paper, doing the math to keep things updated.

Because we get to redeem our tickets for prizes! And what are they? Snacks! Yum!

Only 25 tickets for the big snacks or 10 tickets for the small ones.
Alli told Theresa "Do you want a beef jerky stick? Protein?" She knows Theresa is being mindful of her macros.

You can watch a clip of some of the highlights. It was really fun.

You did a fantastic job kids! That was a lot of work and planning that went into that carnival. The mothers will definitely remember that.

It's awesome being able to hang out with my Colorado family. We spent family time together around the table working on a puzzle. Megan is super talented on the piano and played any request we could throw out to her. She must have played for 90 minutes straight while we worked on the puzzle. I loved hearing the music and singing along together. Great memories.

The puzzle is complete! Great job everyone!

It's a 1000 piece quilt puzzle, but it's also a Christmas themed puzzle! It's based on the 12 days of Christmas!

And any time the 12 Days of Christmas is mentioned, Theresa always pulls out this video on her phone from when the kids were little. It's super adorable! Such good memories.

I hope your Mother's Day was filled with wonderful memories too!

  1. What a great and simply adorable 12 Days of Christmas by Ian & Alli! That quilt puzzle is so appropriate since your Mom does all those beautiful quilts...really like the theme of the puzzle, too...also enjoy the piano playing in the background (very nice, Megan!). What a memorable Mother's Day Carnival created by Avery, Alli, & Ian...I'm sure the Mothers were super touched and had lots of fun and laughter throughout the carnival as evidenced by the video. The kids learned fast that puff balls are much easier to clean up than all that little paper confetti :-) Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers in the family! Glad you were able to spend it with your Mom (that was an unexpected surprise) and the rest of the Colorado family. EOM
