National Chocolate Covered Anything Day - December 16th

Today is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day! Normally I'd do something with the kids to celebrate a national day, but chocolate covered things are Theresa's forte.

There's lots of tasty treats she made with the kids.

It starts with this container of Dolce Frutta.

Microwaving it for 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, gives the perfect consistency for dipping.

The kids prepped a few dried cherries for dipping.

They took turns dipping strawberries.

And then those chocolate covered cherries.

Someone has to clean up the leftovers, right?

In the end, they came away with a pretty good spread.

Alli picking her favorite strawberry.

The kids took these pretzel thins, covered them in chocolate, and then sprinkled peppermint on them. Theresa assured me they were delicious.

This was my contribution. Chocolate covered bacon! Savory and sweet. Mmm.
Ian assured me that he didn't like it. I asked how he knew if he didn't try it.
He asked for a tiny piece, took a bite, thought for a second, and said, It's good!
You bet it's good.

What a great idea to celebrate Chocolate Covered Anything Day.

It's Alli approved.

  1. Mmmmmmmm...when I saw the National Chocolate Covered Anything title, I knew I was in for a "treat" :-) Quite a variety of chocolate-covered goodies to savor. Alli was looking so carefully as Theresa stirred the chocolate...looks like a lot of ideas were whizzing through her mind as to what she'll do with that chocolate :-) Ian got a delightful surprise when he tried chocolate-covered bacon...all it took was one little bite to quickly change his mind :-) (have to admit when I first saw the chocolate covered bacon I was a little skeptical, too!) EOM
