Tasting Peeps Pepsi, Peepsi, a Marshmallow Flavored Soda

Pepsi flavored to taste like Peeps? You know we're in! My brother sent me a picture in early February of Peeps Pepsi from the internet. Both of us set out to find it. 

We love trying lots of different Peeps. We've done multiple Peeps taste tests, comparing the flavored Peeps to their counterparts, like Original Peeps to homemade sugared marshmallows, Cotton Candy Peeps, Hot Tamales Peeps, Pancakes and Syrup Peeps, Fruit Punch Peeps, Blue Raspberry Peeps, Sour Watermelon Peeps, Party Cake Peeps, and Root Beer Float Peeps. We compared all those flavors in a Peeps Face-off Taste Test challenge. We bought the chocolate dipped Peeps. We tried Peeps cereal back in 2019, and then again in 2021 when they changed the cereal marshmallows. 

I love that the bottles are the bright yellow of the classic JustBorn Peeps. 

Peeps Filled Ropes Taste Test Comparison

As a family, we've tried a whole lots of different Peeps. 

Original Peeps to homemade sugared marshmallows, Cotton Candy Peeps, Hot Tamales Peeps, Pancakes and Syrup Peeps, Fruit Punch Peeps, Blue Raspberry Peeps, Sour Watermelon Peeps, Party Cake Peeps, and Root Beer Float Peeps. We compared all those flavors in a Peeps Face-off Taste Test challenge. We bought the chocolate dipped Peeps. We tried Peeps cereal back in 2019, and then again in 2021 when they changed the cereal marshmallows. And when Pepsi came out with a Peeps flavored soda called Peepsi, we tried that too! There was Peeps Cotton Candy, Peeps Gummies, and Peeps Lollipop Rings. 

So, when I saw another version of Peeps on the shelves this Easter, I knew we'd be trying it. These are Peeps Filled Ropes!

And right off the bat, the kids and I saw that they got the colors wrong. Sure Peeps are blue, pink, and yellow. But not that color blue, pink, and yellow. And Alli wanted to know why there was only one red/pink one. 

Dr Pepper flavored Peeps - taste test comparison

It's Easter time which means it's time for Easter treats! And one of our favorite treats is Peeps! 

We've tasted a whole bunch of different flavored Peeps, including back in 2020 when we tried 9 unique flavors! This year, I noticed that Peeps has added quite a few new flavors to the line-up, so we'll be trying them along with the item they're supposed to represent! 

Today we've got a really special one. Based on the best soda out there (arguably) it's the Dr Pepper Peep! We've tried Dr Pepper Cotton Candy, Dr Pepper Baked Beans, and lots of flavors of Dr Pepper. Growing up I even remember a Dr Pepper gum that had a liquid center. How will these Peeps compare? 

And of course, to compare, we'll have a cold can of Dr Pepper to see how close Peeps really get to the flavor of Dr Pepper. 

Blue Raspberry Icee Peeps and Peeps flavored Icee - taste test comparison

Today we're trying the last of our collection of Peeps flavors we've gathered this Easter. We found Dr Pepper Peeps (which were delicious), Rice Krispies Treats Peeps (which were unremarkable), and Churro Peeps (which were also unremarkable). For our last flavor, we are trying Peeps Blue Raspberry Icee! 

And so, we headed to the store to find Icees that we could compare them to! "But wait," I hear you say, "haven't you already tried Blue Raspberry Peeps?" Wow, what an amazing memory you have. I'm impressed. We have indeed tried Blue Raspberry Peeps, but those were a little different.  

Back in 2020, right as the pandemic started, we found Blue Raspberry Peeps, but they weren't branded as Icee at that time. Despite that, I was trying to think of things to compare it to that were blue raspberry flavored. Even back then I chose Blue Raspberry Icees and Blue Raspberry Sour Punch Straws! 

Peeps

All of those 8 other Peeps taste tests has finally led to this. The original Peeps.
The Just Born company was started in 1923 by Sam Born. As the company grew, it acquired other candy companies. In 1953, Just Born bought the Rodda Candy company, who was responsible for making marshmallow Peeps. Originally made by hand though piping tubes, a year after buying the company they mechanized the whole thing, allowing them to make Peeps a lot faster!

Here's what we're tasting today. We'll get into that in just a little bit.

Tasting Peeps Lollipop Rings

For our final Peeps inspired treat, I found Peeps Lollipop Rings! 

These ring based lollipops remind me a lot of Ringpops and would work great in an Easter basket. 

Peeps Rice Krispy Treats - taste test comparison

Happy Easter! We're trying out lots of the new Peeps flavors that came out this year and today we're trying Rice Krispy Treat flavored Peeps! And even better than trying Peeps alone is hanging out and doing things with friends! We're going to make Rice Krispy Treats together and see how the Peeps Compare!

Holiday Peeps - Peppermint Bark and Hot Chocolate

Next up in the product review, Peeps Delights!
Peeps aren't just for Easter anymore and that makes me happy. I love Peeps!
Today we've got two different flavors. And because they're "Delights" they're dipped in something extra. There's Hot Chocolate Peeps dipped in White Fudge, and Peppermint Bark Peeps dipped in Dark Chocolate.

Taste Testing Peeps Gummies

Easter is coming so there's lots of new Easter themed candies around! My favorite Easter treat are Cadbury Mini Eggs, but that's followed closely by Peeps. Peeps have decided to expand their lineup this year with a few new treats. Now instead of just marshmallows, they're trying Peeps Gummies too! 

Alli - I loved the Peeps cereal. Ah yes, I remember that one too.

Peeps Cinnamon Churro - taste test comparison

It's time for another Peeps taste test! So far this season we've had Dr Pepper Peeps and Rice Krispies Treats Peeps. Today it's Peeps Cinnamon Churro! 

I've made my own churros at home a few times when we made Disney Treats at home, tasted Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros, and Chocolate Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros. Today though, we'll give someone else a chance. I found these Goya Churros with chocolate dipping sauce at our local Target. 

Coming Soon - A Peeps taste test

I don't know if I'm just noticing it this year, or if this has been going on for a while, but I've seen more Peeps flavors this year than I can remember.
And even though we're stuck inside for the time being, I've got a good queue of taste test treats ready to go.

There's a 9 different flavors of the Peeps Chicks that I found this year. More if you include the Bunnies, but I'm drawing the line at Chicks. So this year we'll be trying Original Peeps, Blue Raspberry Peeps, Hot Tamales Peeps, Fruit Punch Peeps, Sour Watermelon Peeps, Root Beer Float Peeps, Party Cake Peeps, Cotton Candy Peeps, and Pancakes & Syrup Peeps.
I'm also going to do my best to try them with what they represent too.
The kids are amazed at the total number of there are to try, saying that if we had just one more flavor, we'd have 100 Peeps!

Peppermint Candy Cane Peeps and Brachs Candy Cane Taste Test Comparison

Time for more holiday treats! This time it's from the makers of all those Easter marshmallows, Peeps! For Christmas, they have come out with Candy Cane Peeps 

Alli and Ian bought these for me and said that we should do a taste test. I agree! 

We have tasted a whole bunch of different Peeps flavors, and even had a 9 flavor Peep face-off! There was even one time when we tried Peppermint Bark Peeps, which sounds similar, but they were actually dipped in Chocolate! 

But these Peeps we're trying today are Candy Cane Peeps. I love the packaging with its red and white stripes. We all think it's pretty hilarious that they can't seem to put the eyes in the proper place on the Peeps. These ones all seem to be looking to one side (or have an "eye" on the top of their heads). 

Joe - They're all leaning to one side, like a dog going "huh?"

For our comparison today you've got to go with the delicious Brach's candy cane. I know there's lots of different candy cane makers out there, including Spangler, but we think Brach's makes the best hard candy.  

Hot Tamales Peeps

Time for the next Peeps taste test. In a surprise to me, Ian was the one who suggested we try the Peeps flavored with Hot Tamales. The kids wanted to get dressed in their most fiery outfits. Look at all that red. Normally we'd take this picture at the table, but then we wouldn't get to see their entire wardrobes.

These Peeps are easy to find a match with. Hot Tamales are a very tasty candy, but they can be pretty spicy sometimes. Fun fact, the Just Born company that makes Peeps, also makes Hot Tamales.

A Peeps Face-off taste test comparison! Which Peeps flavor will rise to the top!

All of our Peeps Tastes test to this point are finally leading to this. It's a Peeps showdown. Of the nine flavors that we've tried, which one will reign supreme?

There's nine flavors, so I've got a bracket and we're going to do this properly.

Cotton Candy Peeps

We're kicking off our Peeps taste test with Cotton Candy Peeps for no other reason than the kids wanted to try it first. 

And we're trying them alongside some tasty cotton candy.

Peeps Cereal

As we were wandering the grocery section of Target, I saw these staring at me. Peeps is making a cereal! Peeps is making a cereal!
I love Peeps. Soft marshmallow covered in granulated sugar. What's not to like about that?

Pink chicks, check. Blue bunnies, check. Let's eat!

Taste Testing Peeps Cotton Candy

As we get closer and closer to Easter, I've been seeing a lot more Peeps themed snacks around. Not just the classic marshmallow chicks that are at every grocery store, but also some more unique items that I haven't seen before. Well for the Peeps lovers in this family, I know what to do whenever we see something new! We try it of course! 

Let's start off with this Peeps Cotton Candy! 

As I was looking around Dollar Tree, I found these two bags of real cotton candy. Not to be confused with the Marshmallow Peeps flavored like Cotton Candy that we tried before. 

Pancakes & Syrup Peeps

It's breakfast time! The perfect time to try these Pancake and Syrup Peeps.

Using my excellent cooking skills, I made up a short stack of pancakes to try alongside these Peeps.

Blue Raspberry Peeps

We're nearing the end of the Peeps taste test. Only a couple Peeps flavors left. Today we're trying Blue Raspberry Peeps.

When I think of Blue Raspberry what immediately comes to mind are Blue Raspberry Icees. Staying at home it was going to be difficult to get out for Icees. Luckily I have planned ahead. Icee makes these frozen treats too.
I also think about Blue Raspberry Sour Punch Straws, which are also tasty. Let's try both!

Fruit Punch Peeps

We're just about halfway through all these Peeps flavors. Tonight we're going to try Fruit Punch Peeps.

Now I don't know what comes to your mind when you hear fruit punch, but for me I immediately think Kool-Aid. And while you can make it from a packet, the coolest way to drink it was out of these plastic squeeze bottles.
Now my mind went to Kool-Aid but upon further inspect, they don't actually call it fruit punch flavored. Instead it's Tropical Punch. But let's compare the fruits on both packages. Limes, oranges, grapes, and cherries - check. Hmm, there's pineapple on the Peeps package but not on the Kool-Aid package. I'm still going to allow it.
